    Hello,

Some friends and I are planning the below trip in a month or so.

    http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=U...4625028209059147676.00048e59488178873916d&z=5

The actual route (counterclockwise) will allow us to complete the trans-Lab highway, head to Quebec city and then north to do the trans-taiga.

We are looking at riding with TKCs, and are hoping to either find a place to buy a rear tire in Quebec city or bring one with us and find a place in quebec city that will change the tire.

We are planning on being in Quebec city on June 23, which apparently is a holiday of sorts. Does anyone know a place that could change the tires to two R1200GS and one Moto Guzzi Stelvio in QC?

    Any information is greatly appreciated.

Will you have your own tires? or buying them then? BMW Vanier in Qc city can do both bikes.

In the later case, any bike shop can...If buyin' order in advance, just so you have them and don't waste time....

    My 0.02$.

    Good riding

Actually, if I can correct you Chilango, the holiday is Friday, June 24 and we were hoping to have a tire change on either the 24th or Saturday June 25.

Will everything and everyone be closed?

And is there no chance for a tire change further North and East? For instance, Les Escoumins? Or near the intersection of 138 and 172? I have spoken to Moto Vanier and have reserved tires, however we were hoping for options in terms of a date - and with Moto Vanier we MUST mount tires on 5/23.

Thanks for your tips M. LeMay! And everyone else who chimes in.

(Quite a coincidence we both quote M. Hemingway, chilango!)

If I may translate for you.
Lagamic lives north of Montreal about 1/2 hour from Ste Agathe. In the worst case scenario he has the apparatus for changing your tires. If you contact him he will give you the name of the dealer where you could purchase the tires prior to your arrival and he offers to go pick up the tires so he will have them upon your arrival. Although he speaks little english you may communicate through his partner as she is fluent.Hope this helps..

Thank you very much BB! E vous aussi Lagamic!! Je ne parle pas tres bien Francais, and I'm sure I write even worse, Je suis tres desolee!

Let me discuss with riding mates and we'll let you know. BB would you please let Lagamic know we REALLY appreciate his generosity. We're still deciding whether we're going to carry tires or not. We'll post back here.

Again, merci beaucoup a tous les deux gentiles hommes!

BTW, that 'holiday' is St Jean-Baptiste. It is THE big party day of the year in Quebec. So don't even think that you'll find a shop open the next day. Or mechanics not hungover enough to make sure they tightened that axle up tight... :lol3

Really, it's a big bash. Plan to change before that date at a shop, or take up lagamic on his kind offer. He lives in a beautiful area, with awesome riding. Very scenic, lots of nice people, and many of them are bilingual, like his lady is, so you won't have much problems getting things done.

Forgot: Cheap tires can be had at Moto-Internationale in Montreal. everything else there ain't cheap, but their tires are good. They won't ship, though. For shipped tires in canada, see dualsportplus for that.

If have another suggestion for you. I buy my tires at Pete's Superbike situated in Vaudreuil-Dorion on route 540. Good prices, good service. After customs or around Platsburg head west a bit, leave the expressways and take country roads. Head north to Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and cross the St-Lawrence. Pete's Superbike is on route 540. After you pick up your tires, forget about going trough Mtl traffic. Take the little ferry from Hudson to Oka. Then, drive nice country roads to St-Agathe. June 24 all dealers are closed and probably Saturday also. Pete's is closed on Saturday.

You can also change your tires in Baie-Comeau just before you take the TLH. Search the Canadian forum For Baie-Comeau.

    Have a good trip

Drif, we thank you very much for taking the time to reply! It looks like we'll choose to each carry a spare rear TKC and look to change somewhere along our route.

BB, we've decided, as insurance, to each carry a TKC rear with us and change somewhere along our route. Lagamic's offer is very very kind and we really appreciate it. And actually he's located on our homeward leg, after completing the James Bay Road and Trans-Taiga - we'll need new tires much before that.

If you would be so kind as to translate this for M. Lagamic that would be fantastic!

Again, we welcome any further ideas - and we wish you all a great holiday in June! :freaky

With a rear change, you don't really need to worry about balancing, that makes life easy. Carry a set of spoons and change at a gas station with an airline (not one of those little pump setups), and you can forgo the bike shop.

    Safe trip.
