Another question to those that have taken delivery of their new 1200GS LC. On the former 1200GS the user could not change these settings (had to be done by the dealer): - Delay time/distance for automatically turning off the turn signals. - Delay time for turning off lights after ignition has been switched off. - Display of average and current consumption as "liter/100 km" OR "km/liter" Can the user change any of these settings on the new 1200GS LC or are they only changeable by the dealer? Just wanted to know before I pick mine up, so that my dealer set this up to my liking, if it is not user managed. Max
It only controls the GPS. At least it did on the demo bike I tested last week. Another thing that I was told by my dealer was that the BMW Motorrad GPS only connects with bluetooth to the BMW helm set and NOT other helm sets. I don't know if this is right, so if anyone has more info on this then please make a post. Max
Good question-what about the Schuberth SRC system-I am riding over to dealer this a.m. and see if LC has arrived
The spinning wheel only controls functions on the GPS and doesn't control anything on the on board computer. I THINK the spinning wheel only comes as part of the GPS preparation package and isn't on standard bikes? not 100% Having both the GS and a K16 I can say I prefer the interface on the GS.For example to zoom in or out on the GS you just hold the wheel to the left or right on the GS , where as on the GT you first have to line select the zoom in or out prompt on the bikes onboard TFT screen menu, which can mean cycling through other menus to get there first. The GS imports a new menu screen into the navigator which has amongst other functions,a handy "go home" prompt.
On the K16 at least the navigator would patch to the Schuberth, but you couldn't control the headphone's volume using the spinning wheel like you could with the BMW communicator.
Well, I'm now the proud owner of an LC GS! Got to the dealership at 9.30am, went through all the paperwork, paid the balance, and signed a few forms. We then went down and looked over the bike, I put the panniers and bags in my wife's car and off she went. After a 10 minute run through of the bike (I was itching to ride off, but needed to go through all the features with the BMW guy) off I rode into the sunset. Well off onto wet roads covered in grit, crap and diesel. Enough of all that, here it is Initial impressions are that this bike is going to be amazing. Due to the bad weather, brand new tyres and brand new bike, I didn't get a chance to fully explore much, TBH I just wanted to get it home in one piece (the long way round). So, after a few miles, the bike was filthy and in need of a clean. It's now cleaned (much easier to clean these wheels) tucked up, and I'll be spending the rest of the day fitting accessories, working out how the heck the Motorrad Navigator works, and reading the manual (I need to know what oil it uses!). Bring on the adventures. I'll report back with as much info as possible over the coming weeks.
Sweet - congrats Rich! Is that the small or large GS tank bag? Also thought you were getting the Akro?
Very nice!!! Congratulations - gorgeous bike. I know the feeling - when I bought my GSA last year I picked it up on a dreary rainy day. It didn't stop me from going off on a long ride anyway. When I got home I looked at my new baby, which was now filthy, and just had to wash her. Question - is the new Motorrad Navigator different than the Nav IV that's been out for a few years now?
Bike looks great! Does the GPS come with software that allows routes to be up/downloaded to a computer ?
Garmin's software free package Basecamp can be downloaded from their website. Mac users: http://www.garmin.com/en-US/shop/downloads/basecamp Windows users: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435 Max
Looks great Rich...I picked up my first BMW an R75/6 in 1975(dating myself) in the snow in Feb in Canada...like you I just couldn't wait..have fun cleaning and detailing.
Actually it is one case where I can forgive breaking Netiquette. CONGRATULATIONS for the new bike Rich! Looks great! Everybody seems to be getting the gray one. How does it feel? Does it pull... to the left as they said? The wheel on the handle bar controls only GPS or other stuff too? (I think I've seen someone changing riding more with the wheel) Where there other LC GSes waiting there? Any chance to test the LEDs?
