I&#8217;m very proud to announce the 7th European Advrider Rally, from 10 to 19 June 2011, to cover all the north of Portugal from the northwestern point to&#8230; we will see after recos, probably the northeastern point or further south to the hearth of Porto wine region.

    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

Meeting will take place at the city of Viana do Castelo, all the Friday 10th June. Morning 11th June we will start riding the tracks.
    <o:p></o:p>

The meeting will coincide with a great Portuguese event, the so called Volta a Portugal (Portugal Tour), hereafter VaP, that will have its second stage at the same date. With great I mean... great :D , but it&#8217;s not for the number of participants, much more for the tradition, its mentor is organizing for years very demanding rides all over the country.
    <o:p></o:p>

The Rally will have two options:
    <o:p></o:p>

1 &#8211; Folowing the VaP, participants will be by their own regarding accommodation and food, it means that most of the time participants will be camping and having meals (carried in the bike) in the middle of nowhere :D. This option is also a demanding ride, with high level of difficulty but ANY trail bike is welcomed, even Varadero or GS1200. No rushes, no time pressure, nobody delays nobody, collective help always present! No preset place for each end of day and end of ride, it will finish wherever it finishes the 18 June, next year will begin at this year end point (and of course if you liked you&#8217;re invited to join again!)
    <o:p></o:p>

2 - NSH option (Not So Hard... former SCO) as the name implies, is a ride on tracks not as difficult as VaP, with few tarred roads, accommodation in small hotels or even private houses, lunch on the go responsibility of each participant and dinner at restaurants. It can be done with passenger for a offroad experienced rider, but some paths will require the passenger to walk a little, not more than a couple of hundred meters. Some points, a few, bikes will have to overcome obstacles with mutual aid. There is however always the possibility of tar roads alternatives.

VaP will take place with any number of participants.

Expenses: a double room should be around 20&#8364;/day/person and a good (very good!) meal about 15&#8364;. Fuel... we never know... now about 1.6&#8364;/liter.

Participants of VaP and NSH will join at Viana do Castelo during the 10th June, will have dinner together, and start together for the first stage. After a few kilometers Vap and NSH will separate, and most probably will don&#8217;t meet again in the week except for the 19th June where we will try to join again the two groups ending together visiting a archeological site, where a special permission is under request since the access dirty roads are closed to public vehicles. Followed by a taste of Portuguese wines (it&#8217;s the hearth of Port Wine region). <o:p></o:p>

Portugal is a paradise for offroad with few restrictions, plenty of dirty roads, and this region in particular is a must of beautiful tracks and landscapes. So, plan your holidays to join, if you decide to send your bike and fly to Lisbon we will help with truck transportation companies that runs all Europe, 10 June in the morning we will start by road to Viana (400 kms).

Participants list in the next post.

That sounds really tempting, thanks for your initiative, Luis! :clap

Shame that we've already planned our holidays for this summer...

But, as you said, there may be next year - it would be good to meet you again and ride those beautiful Portuguese trails together.

Wishing you a great time and a fantastic rally!

That looks a very nice ride. But unfortunately i cannot make it this year, Luis. i already subscribed to the German ADV meeting.
and i'm very limited in holidays this year cos i save my holidays for next year to make a long trip: 3 months central asia with my brother.
so maybe an other time in portugal.

SCO is not a second option since VaP will hapen for sure. So, you're in VaP.

Until now, no one chose SCO... except me and Paulo with second option for VaP :D

    Luis some links to VaP?

I'm in for soft option. Anything with BB goes.
Will be possible to leave the excess baggage?
I will put my name and data on the list later.
    Cheers

    Hi Franc!

Check the previous post from some pictures. More links: here and here

Anything with BB... means SCO, VaP implies camping most of the days...

You should carry your stuff in the bike in both options.

    I'm very happy you're joining:clap
