Tres Amigos are making what we hope is a memorable trip in May. Following Route 66 from MO to CA then up the Pacific Coast Highway to Monterey CA. From there we will travel to Reno NV and east to Salt Lake City UT. North to West Yellowstone MT, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park. Southeast to Laramie...then through Medicine Bow National Park and Routt Forest National Park to Steamboat Springs CO. From there, it's across the Rockies via Estes Park CO to Denver. Then east to the finish at Kansas City MO.

    Check out http://www.jbriankelly.com/Route%2066/66index.htm

We will be adding daily updates and photos

    And your point is?

Aging and/or handicapped riders who still feel the need for speed and excitement they once received by ripping down the road on two wheels can again feel that old thrill on the Spyder

Hey, now that there is a pretty spiffy lookin' rig.
(just to throw some good positive vibes back into this thread):thumb

I wonder what they would be like with some dirt tires and some off road suspension like the Can am Atv's?
That would be just freakin' awesome!

    That suspension on a spyder?
    sweeet

Good looking route, Brian. Obviously you've planned it well. Nonetheless, just shout -fire me a PM- if you find yourselves needing suggestions on how to fill time with must-see places in UT.

Hey Irish......I'm not sure what you've got worked out for lodging but I've got a good tent site in Joplin, MO. Just a couple of miles from Route 66. You and the gents are welcome to stay on your ride through town.
Heck.....I can probably round up a cold beer or two. :beer

Let me know if you're interested and I'll PM my contact info.

    Good Luck!.........Louie

Thanks for the offer, Louie, but our first stop after leaving Lebanon MO is Oklahoma City. Figure on getting there between 1700 - 1800. But damn that cold beer sounds tempting LOL

What Gadget Boy said. I don't even like cycles that don't at least look retro, if not actual retro machines, and I still think a RR with Spyders would be outstanding to read. Not much about these wacky machines on ADV, so at least such an RR would be some novelty. Please give us a few updates on this thread from time to time!

That's pretty much the exact same route I took with a buddy a couple years ago but backwards. We hit Crater Lake but couldn't see it for the fog.

Hey Irish! +1 on all the positive comments you've received thus far. I don't really care what people ride on their RR's, but you have me intrigued about the Spyders. Please give us lots of details! Have a great trip and ride safe.

If I were you I'd continue up 101 and take Calif. Hwy 1 to Leggett. The best part of the Pacific Coast Hwy.:deal

Be mindful of the weather in May on the northern leg of your route. It can be nasty. See the links in my sig box. They both touch on places you will visit. Hope they are helpful. Have a great trip.
