My local dealer has this 08 1200GS, full service history, 31K miles and I am in negotiations to buy. I have them at 10K plus TTL. Based on the flea market and Craigslist research this appears to be a good deal. It's got most of the right farkles on it except for engine guards. Touratech GPS mount, ram mount for a radar detector?, all 3 cases, upgraded foot pegs (unknown brand), Rox risers. It has ABS, ASC and heated grips. NO ESA. Hit me with your concerns and comments.
What are you waiting for? Sounds like a quality reasonably low mileage machine with good farkles on it at a good price! The 08 is one of the best of the Hexheads! Jim PS You list of accessories is lacking. There is more on the bike than you mentioned.
Thanks for that. I did see that extra light on the left side and didn't think it was stock. Is there anything else I'm missing?
Definitely . It looks almost exactly like the '08 I had, except for a few different farkles. Great bike.
It also has the clutch and brake reservoir protectors $90 appx, a TT windscreen extension $100 Appx, a Throttlemeister throttle lock $140 appx, the GS Adv engine guards, $200 appx (These are not very good on their own as they will smash out of shape pretty easily. They work better with a crash bar), and factory wire wheels, the base GS came with cast, the wires were an upgrade of $500. Jim
Me too. Good bike, good deal. Jump on it. And, it's Namibia Orange, the best color. Why, the prestige alone of owning a Namibia Orange GS can't be measured in dollars, right? (old quote from Used Cars)
Thanks everyone for the dissection. I do love the color and amazingly I am old enough to know the used car Kurt russel reference. Classic!
Go easy on the throttle until you're used to it. The Namibia Organge ones are known to be faster, too. Congrats !!
Congratulations. It is the same colour as mine, Namibia Orange. I purchased mine in May 2008 and now have 26,000 km on the odometer, not a moments bother, a great machine. I purchased mine with all the luggage as well and quickly fitted H&B engine bars, a mud sling and fender extender. I think the GSA head guards and spoke wheels on your machine are special, a great idea. Service it every 5,000 km (3000 miles) and you won't have any trouble. I use Castrol SAF XO in the gearbox and FD and change it annually with the break fluid as well. Just put new rear pads in mine, don't ya just love the balanced braking - not; if you ride aggressively the rear pads don't wear, if you ride sedately the rear pads wear quickly. Enjoy. Cheers Rob A.
Good Luck!!! I have the Exact same bike/color love it with only 55,000 miles, still runs as the day i picked up from dealer.
Got it home and started looking a little harder.. found all kinds of "other" stuff. Close up of the RAM mount Remote for a passport radar detector? I'm new to the GS is there something missing here? Storage cylinder 12V converter to cig lighter plus a USB/wall charger Does anyone know what model Garmin this mount takes? Not sure but the tool set looks complete.
I didn't get enough seat time on Saturday so I had to take it out on Sunday and mix it up with some street and dirt. Love this bike so far. Question - I have adjusted the seat into the high position because it felt like I was riding on my NUTS (sorry ladies). Unfortunately the problem is still there. I'm wearing jeans while riding for now but man this nut busting is getting old. Any advice?
