I have a GC from REI and they are running a sale, so I am considering a new single man tent for adventuring. I usually carry a Mountain Hardware Alcove 3 when travelling with the wife, and although it's nice it packs a bit large. The BD Lighthouse seems ideal, small, light, and a good size for travelling solo. Anyone have one? How do they work in the rain? I've never done single wall and seen some mixed reviews. Any pros/cons specifically around moto camping? Thanks!
I have a BD skylight, and have had it in the rain. The key is a careful seam-sealer job when you get. I have read mostly good reviews, even from people who didn't seal the seams, but use the stuff they send with the syringe, take your time and you will be rewarded with a very breathable, very dry and superlight/durable tent. The epic fabric is butter soft but from all accounts is durable. It breathes very well, even for me in the hot humid Southeast. I have only had it a year, so I basing my experience on that..... highly recommended.
