    Are we counting imaginary bikes?

I want a lightweight low-maintenance sporty naked with shaft drive.

Something like a BMW R1200R with a few pounds off and not BMW.

Or a FZ09 with a bigger gas tank and shaft drive

Or a Guzzi V7 with more power

I know I represent a small market segment, so I'll keep sitting on the sidelines and waiting for that perfect bike for me.

Since I can't afford any of the current crop of bikes I like just at the moment, I did add some m/c "art" to our new home. I found this early 60's Puch Allstate Twingle in the oldest standing property in Orange County (a barn dated from 1847). It had been hidden away in the barn for over 30 years and it had an inch of dust all over it. I have all the other motor and body pieces for it as well, just have to get around to bolting them back on but it makes an arresting piece of art for the (private) breezeway outside our new apartment!
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, no, I am not going to restore it. The patina of age is what I love about it.

It was stupid back then too.

It's like wearing a heavy duty boot with an open toe. It could be so capable, but it has a major flaw.

Itis funny how that one word - scrambler - colors everyone's thinking about this bike. It seems to be what everyone has been asking for in a retro-modern standard on this forum when talking about/criticizing other retros. It's not heavy like the CB1100 or Bonneville (or Triumph's own high-piped Scrambler), it's not underpowered like the SR400, TU250X, or V7, it's not cruiser-low like the Sporster, Bolt or their clones.

If they'd named it the GT800, after their old street bikes... well, people would just be grousing about something else. ;)

Not in 1967. You're judging it by today's standards. At that time, motocross didn't really exist in the US. There were scrambles and TT and desert racing, and that tucked under system worked quite well. It was designed here in the US by those who raced in the desert, and Johnson Motors, the west coast importer, asked for and got the TT Special just as you see it. It was sold to the US exclusively.

Hmm...That's kinda "Yamaha does Guzzi V7," ain't it?

Ehhh... That's more along the lines of Ducati does a forced mating of a Diavel with a 1962 Sportster.
