I will still be at work sadly. My court date today put me a little behind.

If anyone's interested, there will be a police motorcycle skills competition tomorrow (Saturday) morning at around 9am. It will be held in a parking lot between Badger Harley-Davidson and the casino.

I watched some of it today, and it was pretty impressive. Here's an example of a similar competition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9MVY8swO5M

Our water heater just died. Does anyone know a Madison area plumber that they would recommend? Is it something that I should just read up on and try to replace myself?

Gopher it. I did mine two or so years ago.

You'll be able to get sweet tools like blowtorches and pipe cutters!

If it is gas, leave it to the pro's. Electric is a piece of cake. If you don't want to mess with with torches and sweating pipes hit up the SharkBite connectors. Pipe cutting tool is all you will need.

But don't forget to turn off the water supply and electricity.

I finally broke thru the extractor. Now using a grinder and rat tail file because the hole is off center on the bolt. Such tedious work. Dead water heater is almost a welcome distraction.

It's actually pretty darn easy. I did mine at home (electric) and at ma's house (gas). Sweating pipes is easy enough, just make sure it's clean, clean, clean.

Bonebags got a PEX crimper. I think boomer does too.

I added a couple extra shut offs so I didn't have to drain the entire system next time.

I can run down Saturday morning and give you pointers or help out if need be, just gimme a shout.

I just did one last year, and the worst part was getting the old one out of the basement. 80 gal. half full of sediment.

I've got tools for PEX and copper, and am on the west side/Middleton daily.

As far as a plumber, Arlington Hardware.
