    Howdy,
I plan on installing white LED lights on my R100GSPD with the idea of being seen. From what I have been able to see (pun intended) LED technology has not yet perfected the ability to punch the light out there so the rider can see longer distances. Also, LED's have the advantage of putting out some lumens without challenging our low wattage alternators.

My choice would be to mount LED lights pendent-style from the engine guards.
This would provide the "triangle of light" that can be so effective in catching the attention of some of the brain dead drivers that we deal with on a daily basis.

Is anyone aware of any brackets that could be used and attached to the engine guards????
If this plan works well, I will post the results with pics.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Do a Google search and go to the PIAA site. They make (or sell) their own brackets in various diameters. Not that cheap though.

BMW makes some nice clamps that fit perfectly on the engine guards. Here are the part numbers:

    46631455461 is half the clamp
    46631455462 is the other half
46632315308 is the rubber strap that fits between the clamp and the crash bar

These are very sturdy and will handle any lights I'm aware of.

I have a set of Hella 500's mounted on my eng guards and just ordered these LED's to try out: http://www.ledlight.com/h3-25-smd-1210-fog-driving-led-light.aspx

I love the (55W) Hella's but can't leave them on without draining the battery, so I am looking for alt solutions. I just found the DRL LED H3 Lights online. I will send photos once I get them installed.

I did this on the ST. Works great for being seen as much improvement as the LED tail light. Paid too much for the brackets at the local Harley store although these are stout enough I'm thinking of putting driving lights above and the LEDs suspended from each I would look for some "P" bracket clamps at the hardware store next time for just the LEDs. .

I used a couple of pipe clamps to fit my spots to my bars. They cost around a dollar each. Nice and secure and withstood a road crash early in the summer. Never had a problem with vibration or the lamps moving. They also fit the crash bars.

You can get them from plumbing suppliers - available in 15mm, 22mm and 28mm

They look like this off the bike

    Thanks

I think they're 22mm but I'm not sure...maybe someone else here knows exactly?

My 92 GSPD has 1" diameter guards. If your oil cooler is still in it's original position, mounting a lamp on the right guard could be a problem.
