My 2003 R1150GS rolled over the 100,000 mile mark yesterday while we were on the Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina. Took static and rolling pictures of the occasion for posterity. Now we (wife and I) are looking forward to the next 100,000 miles as we have done about 95% of these miles together. We figure 10% of the miles are on gravel roads, 75% on secondary roads and 15% on the interstate. Still running on the original clutch, final drive ect. I've run BMW synthetic 15w50 oil and 75w90 gear lube since 12,000 miles. We've got Wilburs shocks and other than that my biggest expense has been 9 sets of Anakee tires. My wife has joked with me about getting a new GS Adventure when we wear this one out. Not gonna happen any time soon!
Welcome to the club, it is okay to start using a little more throttle now that the initial tightness has loosened a little. Stewart
Congrats ! my 2003 1150 has 87k on all the original drivetrain....must have been a good year for GS's
I got the exact same mileage but......with 2x R1150GS & A, current one now has nearly 100 000 but km instead!
Great, great, how do I love to hear this sort of news! My beloved R1100GS has 105000km and the only thing changed, apart from normal maintenance, was the Hall sensor. It's running better and better. Congratulations!! Fernando Ilhabela, SP
well I would like to see some pics of these high mileage beemers! I am thinking about getting a GS next year, in light of all the recent rave reviews of the 2010 model.
While all those zeros on the odo are a hallmark, 100,000 miles with all OE running gear is not surprising. Well cared for, a boxer BMW should last 250,000 miles without major work. Tell your wife that the BMW you have is a keeper...don't look a gift ho.......you know the rest. Check back at 150,000. Continued good luck.
Congrats! I should be doing that with mine very soon too, sitting at 93k at the moment. Like the other poster, the only items replaced so far are the Hall sensor and the original battery, just 1500 miles ago. I took it out Saturday and tried out the top end speed for the first time. It should be broke in by now.
congrats on ur 100k............heres a pic of my brother doing this on his "wing" last weekend. doesn't matter what you ride.......those are some serious miles.
Congratulations...........but I think BMW will be using Dilithium power plants by the time you wear your GS out .............now do try and keep up my '02 GS and yes, you can see a serious failure - the needle has dropped off
Ah yes, but the rotating centre spindle still works - it's a 'stealth' speedo........you have to look real carefully to see what you're doing........... and anyway, I'm pretty attuned to the bike now so I know what speed I'm doing by the rev counter. Seriously though, I do have new clock to drop in, but it seems sacrilege to swap it out
I've got to figure out how to resize the pictures. They are about 4 times too large and were taken with a 14 megapixel camera. Any information on how to do that?
