Greetings fellow thumpers, I know you have been thinking the same thing that I have: "Where's the BigWheel thread?" Well it's finally here! I'd like to get things started by presenting the latest Enduro Alaska, featuring the mighty BW350: <object width="640" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IAVQuqbQWWc?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IAVQuqbQWWc?version=3&hl=en_US&rel=0&hd=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAVQuqbQWWc The only question that remains is: "Do we let those FatCat guys participate?" Regards, Mr. BigWheel
Come on, Look at the numbers of BigWheels sold. Several dozen people can't be wrong. If you can ride that overweight, outdated, high center of gravity-battlewagon xl, then a little ol' BigWheel shouldn't cause you any trepidation at all. Regards, Mr. BigWheel
And I'm not middle-aged either. Thank you for acknowledging that the BigWheel is slightly less retarded than a three-wheeler. That is really about the extent of a compliment that can be expected when rocking the Bee Dub.
Im not being funny, i always thought they were kind cool, why didnt they ever take off. Whats the downside of bigger tires?
BigWheels ARE wicked cool! Admittedly, they were constructed with suspension components that would have seemed sub-par in the seventies, but that just makes them very easy to improve upon. Sometimes, like in very muddy conditions, the front wheel will offer too much flotation and not track at all. This leads to crashing while going in a straight line on a level surface. That can be overcome with a little more attention to the surface you are traversing, but is still not the most desirable characteristic. I think that the fatal flaw for the BWs is that women find them to be repugnant. Orange County Choppers can sell all the big, stupid, worthless, overpriced turds that they want because women want to take off all(or most of) their clothes and get their pictures taken next to them. BigWheels would be very popular if that was working for them as well.
I dont like the three wheeler comment. My three wheelers have pulled your guy's ADV bikes, jeeps and quads out of stuck situations. Just cause you cant ride one properly dont diss the trike! My 250es can pull a stump out of the ground and a jeep out of the mud! My 250r teaches quads what a real machine can do.
Creation, You're absolutely correct. But three-wheelers and BigWheels are easy targets for the rest of the world. So take it with a grain of salt on a motorcycle forum. I, for one, will have a Big Red before I die. Regards, Mr. BigWheel
Here's my buddies BW200. It's mint & does duty as a hunting rig. I'm sure it would be a blast in all this snow we got.
A rider can't get off their dirt bike and float it across four feet of water, but a BW rider can. A dirt bike needs speed and suspension to tackle a steep hill. A BW just needs a Wooly Booger and whatever speed the rider chooses. A BW is like riding a ATV and dirt bike at the same time. In other words, they handle like the rider has no idea where they are going. In a fun way.
The Missile 250R kits were cool but IMO the ruin of a great trike. If trikes were still produced I wouldn't feel the same about it. I sure don't remember where but someone took a CRF450 and made a Fat Cat on steroids. I think he also done some others. The biggest problem with the BW is the jackshaft adjustment or the jackshaft itself. I have seen when only a half link would get the chain adjusted correctly.
Is that why they had such a long production run?just messing with you, I almost bought a 85 200 for $50
This is the video for the FatCat450R. Truly the ultimate BigWheel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5Eckdqybvw&feature=related This is what Honda would have been building by now if only they had stayed in the incredibly lucrative fat-tire market.
This is a short video of an ATC250R with a Missile conversion kit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm4X9i8Mdgk&NR=1 The BigWheel could stand to lose a little bit of weight and going two-stroke would be one way of accomplishing that......
