The fact that there are only so many beautiful Fall days left is a good reason NOT to go to Saugus. :D

I'm takin' one for the team here. Let me put Saugus Ironworks to bed. This is around the corner from the main entrance, only about one mile off Route 1 and easy to get to. When the politicians get back to actually governing the country instead of having a mass temper tantrum, I highly recommend a visit, absolutely fascinating place.

Now if someone promptly complains that I haven't placed a new tag: FYYFF.

:lol3 With a name like Garandman you should put it at the Springfield Armory.

Oh nevermind, it's shut down also. Definitely worth seeing when it re-opens though.

It's been 10 minutes. Where is the new tag? Don't you have a smart phone? I hope you aren't moving it too far away.

I had a friend in Germany who told me meeting Americans was the greatest thing that ever happened to him: because we taught him how to be flexible.

But I was trolling you because...

New Tag. No particular strategy here: I left SIW and headed for an area where I thought I could find some pleasant roads to ride on.

The farm sign has been edited: it has the street address and town on it. With GIS that's a pretty easy challenge to overcome.

    Bigger.

I know you were... and I bit because it was amusing. I was jealous that you got out for a ride this afternoon while I was stuck at work. I hope you had a nice ride. Maybe I'll see you at the YB meeting Sunday?

Heh. I didn't check the thread before heading home, so I made the 5 minute detour to grab the Saugus tag. The combination of darkness, streetlights, chain link, and camera phone made it difficult to get a usable shot. This was the best of them:

That's my 'hood'. I grew up on Valley Rd., a few miles east, in the 50s-60s. This place was Chadwick's farm back then, a real New England farm. And didn't have the "Tara" colonnade in front. (Just to the left of this picture.) Mrs. Chadwick was one of my primary school teachers, and I was a year or so behind one of her sons. There's a down ramp at the ell of the barn. I remember flopping down in the snow there as a little kid and making a snow angel.

It was 'very' rural then, about 900 population. Everyone knew everyone.

Now its a high-end bedroom community. :cry

(Might try tomorrow AM, would be great to tag this one)

A little too ironic, yeah I really do think.
