    My first F1 :D
We (buddy and me) went to all the practices as well; we always do for these kinds of things.
    Was VERY cool.
The cars sounded great to me; certainly not as loud as the GP bikes but a really aggressive note. It doesn't translate well to TV though.
Here's a short clip from my iPhone.
FYI: Shanghai airfare/hotel starts at 850$ Canadian, from Canada. Very affordable

Thanks to you and Sid and others on this forum for a lot of good info beforehand. I've always sort of followed F1 but not fanatically so this thread was very helpful to get me up to speed on what's happening.

No, never. Only big track in CA was Sonoma, sat in the hairpin.

Sonoma isn't bad from the top of the hill, but Laguna up by the corkscrew you can walk 50 ft back and forth to see about 85% of the track. Here I am driving our "Alpo-na" BMW 2002 (yes, it's covered in fur) in a Chumpcar race coming out of the hairpin at Sonoma when the axle broke.

She deserves to be in a car on a live racetrack. Hopefully it's in the cards for her. She was flogging that thing.

    Car sounded kinda funny though................:evil

her first lap was pretty graceful on the cold tires; initially i thought she was braking early, but she wicked it up on her second pass once the tires warmed up.

she seems to have talent, but so far she's been hamstrung by half-assed equipment in both indycar (lotus?!) & f1. i wish she'd stayed in indycar, where i could cheer for her on the weekends. but, since i like sauber, i'm happy she's there getting some valuable experience. she deserves a full time ride in something.
