How about Hill End next weekend??? I'm thinking an over nighter. Meet Richmond Macca's, up Bells Line, turn off at ZigZag down to Lidsdale via Blackfellows hand track. Lidsdale to Capertee, Capertee to Sofala via Turon Gates and then Sofala to Hill End. Stay in either the pub or the holiday ranch. Back home on Sunday via the bridle track???
Just booked a train stay at the Hill End ranch for the missus and I, so we are going rail, hail or shine..
Sounds like a good plan. I was thinking of leaving from Zigzag etc and onto Too Many Gates rd this Sat as well. What time will you be at the Zig zag? I'll have a DR650 and a friend on a 640.
Great news GSA. Are you ok with our late departure time or are you heading ahead of us and meeting up later? We have to drop someone to the airport. They should have left today but are heading to QLD and for obvious reasons their flight was cancelled and rebooked for Saturday... Bugger!
Bloody Qlders! 7 Origins, now holding up an Advride - WTF :huh No worries, all good my end. I can meet at Maccas Richmond whenever it suits you. I live 5 minutes away. I'm just happy to be going. I hope everything's ok for your Qld friend.
from lidsdale to capertee are you going through baal bone? or are you going back up the wolgan road and onto the highway? i tried to get my tenere up baal bone and stuggled last time. but i was by myself and i know the track very well and i was worried due to another steep desent further on.... what bike do you guys have? reakon the Tenere will keep up.
I think we'll skip Baal Bone. It was pretty bad just up the hill from the swamp when I was down there a couple of months back. With all this rain I'd suggest that it'd be impassable by all but very competent riders on serious enduro bikes. I wouldn't even try and get the 990 down the rocks to the swamp/rear of Baal Bone. Having said that, if anyone wants to go that way we could just wait a Capertee.
I'm on a 990 ADV, the missus is on a CRF230L and I have a mate coming with us part way on a DRZ400. I'm thinking with all this smaller machinery going I'd be better off on the 500 EXC.
