Hey Guys and Gals, Just got in the Twalcom Triple Clamp racing kit for my F800GS Trophy. All I have to say is that this is some serious sexy artwork...magnificent quality and the fit and finish is superb.....worth every penny... I started the install tonite and am 90% complete. Im missing some DOT4 brake fluid and then I have to put all the plastics back on. I took advantage to convert to a high fender setup with new stainless steel brake lines and mx style fork guards. Here are a few pics for tonites install...enjoy!!! I will post more pics tomorrow :) Cheers Alex
That triple looks nice. May I ask why you wanted to switch it out, or what the benefits of changing it are? Can you please share more details about your brake lines such as manufacturer, part no's, lengths, and who you ordered them from? Also what fork guards you are using and what you are going to use to help guide the brake lines up the forks? More pics and details please. Thanks for sharing this info. It helps all of us other wannabe's
Hey buddy, The reason I changed it out was a tree jumped out in front of me and well you can just imagine the rest...I was in the sand, very technical trail and was probably going a little too fast.... The brake lines I had made at my local shop for $102.00. I got 2 42" main lines which had a 1/4" SS tube inserted over them before the ends were put on to keep them straight along the forks which also helps them keep out of the way. On the top of the forks, I have a loop in place to make sure they stay straight. The fork guards are off a Kawi 450 dirt bike that I modified to fit the bottom mounting points...Formed them with a torch and reinserted the metal inserts to avoid crushing the plastic, they were $35. The triple clamps all in all were about $650 so in total I only have about $800 bux in the whole project...the OEM triple clamp costs +/- $1300 so this was a no brainer.....Easy to install the Twalcom kit as it is a direct replacement plus it looks a lot better. Its also stronger and lighter!!!! A lot of these ideas I got from GPRACER171 and you can see his thread here http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=580958. Let me know if you guys have any more questions. I will post final pics as soon as I can....damn thing called work always gets in my way.... Cheers Alex
Alex, I am thinking of ordering one of these trees but I have the Scott's dampener and it is a solid plate that bolts up to the stock riser holes in the top tree. Are the dimensions of the distance between the riser holes in the Kite tree the same as stock? Thanks, Mike
How about that front fender, is that a Kawa too? And did you keep the brake line loop on the bottom, or run two lines, one on each leg,. Looks like you kept the jumper hyd line. Looks real nice, am wanting to get my fender up out of the way but just can't seem to get permission to spend any money lately! Interested in that triple tree too, looks stronger for sure.
I had the same question. I emailed Twalcom and they replied promptly. According to them the riser hole location is different. I’d be glad if someone could verify this! I managed to break my upper triple, and I’d prefer to replace the set. Same problem with Emig. So right now it looks like the Scotts damper only works with the stock triple clamp.
Hi, I'm new to the f800gs, just bought one from an auction. Does anyone know if a 2013 triple tree would fit a 2010 model..... or does anyone know were I could find a used triple tree for a 2010 f800gs..Thx, Cheers
Your friend https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsMain.aspx?vid=55255&rnd=07242017 part numbers are the same for both years but fork part numbers different. I can't remember when the fork changed from 45mm to 43mm
