Im planning a 3 week trip for July/August. I still havent pinned down a route but am considering part of the western portion of the TAT for part of it. The thing is, my buddy will be on a 06 KLR 650 and Ill be on a 07 1200 GS. After reading a bunch of ride reports Im really conflicted as to whether the 1200 might just be too much bike for the western part of the TAT? Some folks seem to be saying that the bike is just too big but others say itll be fine. I have solid, basic skills and were not looking to be in a rush, were also not afraid to take alternate routes. Can some of you who have ridden the trail on 1200s or similar big bikes comment for me? Thanks.
