Anyone interested in getting together to do some rides?
Just had in mind some simple meet/eat and ride on a SAT or Sunday type rides. A little street and as much dirt as we can find.

Most rides happen in one of 2 places, Blackwater state forest, and Eglin AFB.

For non-street legal dirtbikes, check out Clear Creek OHV Park at Blackwater State Forest, located north of Whiting Field.

Blackwater's dirt roads require a street legal tagged/titled/registered vehicle and maps are available at the Munson main office and Hall's hardware in milton.

Eglin requires street legal/tagged/titled/registered bikes, in addition to a "Recreation Pass" which can be obtained at Jackson Guard in Niceville. Range maps come with the price of the pass. If purchasing in person, you must bring cash!

This is the easiest way to get that permit: https://eglin.isportsman.net/

    The Jackson Guard's hours are mon-thurs 07:00 -16:30 fri 07:00 - 18:00 (850-882-4165) sat 0800-1230. allow 15 min to watch the UXO video.

There are several permits you can buy for different prices, and the "recreation pass" is only good for the summer months. If you plan on riding all year you must purchase either a fishing or hunting permit. These are good for one year from purchase date. It is advised that you not mention you're going to be riding dual sport bikes, just that you plan to recreate on their excellent military lands.

    Howdy there,

I'd be interested in some weekend riding. I'm based out on Innerarity Point. Just PM me with some more details. We can chat about getting together soon. Saturdays are best, because my girl works and it's hard to ignore her on her Sunday off. Do you know other riders in the area? I'm new here and could use some riding partners. Got a DR650 that needs a good workout. Let me know, bud.

I'm in Pensacola--you wanna check out Blackwater this Saturday? Lotsa dirt roads to explore out there, not too far of a ride from Innerarity. I'll probably be heading out there Saturday mid-morning, will be glad to show you around.

Blackwater on Saturday sounds peachy. I have the day wide open. You pick a meeting spot and a time and I'll be there. Maybe since you suggested a ride you could contact XT and relay the plan. I am the worst organizer in this hemisphere so relying on my direction something will get botched up for sure. I'm not super familiar with the area, so an easy googleable landmark or some lat/long coordinates would assure my arrival at the correct location. Looking forward to not riding alone like always :clap. I'll check the thread or just PM me.

One of my local riding buddies said he'd try to join us on the ride tomorrow, and offered a spot on his trailer to anybody that doesn't want to burn up their knobbies on the trip out there. He'd be coming from west Pensacola, anybody wanna take him up on his offer?

Ineptizoid and I explored Blackwater today and we'll be moving onto the western portion soon. That was fun, mate. Another Saturday get together would be great. Maybe some of you other fools can join us.

I'll probably head out there next week or the following. If anyone would like to ride along, let me know.

Also would like to explore eglin soon. Need to get my permit though.

glad to hear everything went well, hopefully Ill be able to join on the next ride

My buddy and I actually made the ride out to ft. walton for the permit for the eglin range, but ended up screwin around and getting there after they closed, so now I gotta ride over there again:norton

the west part definetly is sandy, which means dusty, so dont forget yer goggles!

I actually found a set of trenches dug into a hill while on my initial voyage into the unknown, couple of MRE hotbags lyin around in em..

    not to mention this:

    Hey XTJerry,

Were you out and about today? Only seen your bikes in these pics, but I'm pretty sure it was you. I was gonna turn around and chat but I was on an agenda. Anyway, that's a great bike. Kindof mad max, and I bet you don't get cut off alot. It makes me feel like if I cut you off, you might take off my side mirror with a fist. Ruggedized!!! I like it.

thanks mayne, the ammo can is a great saddlebag for the whole $3 I spent on it. and you are absoluetly correct, that bike only weighs like 240 and is super short (31" I believe) it really is perfect for that bottomless sand where you gotta kinda dogpaddle the bike through (or pick it back up after losing it:lol3 )

I think maybe next weekend would be a good time for me, we'll see as the week progresses.. I'll be planning on it

oh and nothing will get you ready for live rattlesnake encounters - theyll surprise the shit outta ya every time..

Hey man I like that XT! I had one of those about 5 yrs ago, had a blast on it. Kept up with much bigger bikes on the FS roads in the Chattahoochee Natl. Forest in N. Ga., and I wasn't exhausted at the end of the day from wrestling a 300+ lb. bike around! I'm a big fan of lightweight DS bikes, they really shine offroad...

We had a great time riding Blackwater yesterday, hope to do it again this coming weekend. Enjoyed meeting up and riding with you fellas!
