well, there's a few of us now, so time we had a thread like the Dr and orange roughie boys, so Oz transalp/XLV750/Africa twin and varadero owners post your piccies & mods here. My old TA My mate's Dero didn't like sand !! Transalp city A gaggle of honda v-twinners
Great idea Greg Here are a couple of my 1987 TA: 116,000km, goes like a train Ohlins rear shock Progressive front springs 320 fully floating front brake Pro-taper fat bars with risers Barkbusters Alloy bashplate and chainguard Crashbars Can't claim credit for most of the mods, but I've done some of them and want to do a few more. I love it.. Wonder if this will ever be repeated??
On ya Greg Bout time we had our own. Now you've put me to shame and I'll have to post some of mine. The day I got it home from the dealer After a few mods Including a bash plate But this is one you might like better Greg. Claudios monster
can a traitor post? I sold this trusty old transalp after about 15 years... alloy bashplate (raised as much as possible by grinding a few finns from the bottom of the motor) ohlins rear shock (awesome) moorhouse seat (excellent) progressive fork springs / revalve etc replaced the rubber tripple clamp mounts with machined alloy bushes - transformed the steering renthals, barkbusters etc. front guard raised with spacers (after it clogged with mud on the blue light - first and only real crash with the wife on the back - slid all the way down a mongrel greasy hill with no steering before droping her in a puddle at the end) lots and lots of scratches (memory marks)
I even convinced another doc in town to buy one - call him DR TA?? it's a 94 model grey import- has the light weight and nice motor of the 600 but a disk brake and better fairing, hand me down pannier racks that were originally built for my transalp god knows when. The locals did a group buy on the motech bashplates. Great bike.
and some really interesting bikes (600 transalp sidecar, from memory he had delorto carby, tuned exhaust.) he dropped in to Arkaroola when we had the 2002??? (second) get together
hey Greg, what about that other hondavtwinadventurer bike? (Ian D on his way into the wonnangatta- we had about 30 vtwin hondas)
Your enthusiasm for these amazing offroad Honda v-twins has convinced me to buy four, so far: XLV750R, TA600, AT750, AT750... and I'm shopping for one in Canada, now. May hafta be the new Dero... . Thanks for all your help and advice during the last eight years! Paul PS: So there are four ATs in WA now, Squily?!~
