Bed/sleeping rack on top of sidecar

Has anyone managed to make a bed of some sort that is attached to the top of the sidecar when wanted? Like a foldable bunk of some sort. Just getting the thinker working here to start one. Any ideas would be great. I'm looking at something like this and figuring a way to secure it to the top of the sidecar for camping. This would eliminate the need for a tent and make security feel better when camping in unknown areas. I'll probably make up something myself, but this picture shows my starting thoughts about what to look at. Maybe some holes in the top of the sidecar that the legs would fit into.

Thanks in advance

John

I've laid a sheet of plywood crossways across the cycle seat & sidecar and rolled out a sleeping bag on it... It works pretty good.

I was also thinking I could roll up a hammock and take it with me and string it 'tween the outfit and a handy tree / fencepost / road sign.

Just make the sidecar a camper. I'm pretty sure I recall someone on here doing that, but can't seem to find the thread. :)

+1 on the tent cot.

I have a Go Kot and the Cabela's cot tent combination; that will fit on my Ural or the ST1300.

The Kamprite Tent Cot is even better but due to folded size, it would only be practical on the Ural.

But either gets you off the ground in comfort away from bugs/vermin and require no modification to the bike or sidecar.

Plus I can use it for other purposes too.

bed on sidecar

Evening,
Not sure where you would look but I recall 3Legs building a fold out tent top on his chair , think it was under the title of "The ultimate outback outfit MK3 or 4".
Looked quite good and apparently worked well

I usually use a tent or Tent/Cot but I guess I could use the litter on top of the sidecar..
