Try www.wemoto.com for parts, they do genuine and pattern parts, I've used them quite a few times, both when I lived in France and in the UK.
They have good customer service and ship parts out pretty quickly.
    Also try www.mandp.co.uk

Where can I dispose of used engine oil - does France have local oil recycling places like the UK?

hey guys. My wife and I are coming over from Canada end of may until june 18th. I am going to Normandy to Parachute in for the D Day anniversary, then maybe drive to Italy or possibly Spain or slight chance on the Netherlands. Any Advice? Any info on accommodations or places that are a must see?

Also... looking for tent space anywhere.. as travel plans are very loose and flexible. Only fixed dates are June 5-8 in Normandy France.

    Thanks

wow, that's a vast question. It's as if I said I was arriving (parachuting) in Toronto and will be driving to Florida so what should I see? Paris / Geneva / Cote d'Azur / Rome? sorry, need more details to make any recommendation. rent a bike and see where the roads take you?

Greetings. we are a couple of Canadians stranded in Bordeaux.
    Gauriaguet, to be precise.
The rear shock on our bike has expired.
Any suggestions on a repair facility?
We have not had any luck, with repair facilities.
Any suggestions regarding where I could purchase some sockets and do the repair work myself?
We are expecting a replacement shock to be delivered to us tomorrow, hopefully.
Our lack of the French language has been problematic, to say the least.
We have already begged Decibels for assistance. They refused to help us out.
    Thanks in advance.

Guys, could I get some tips on motorcycle accessory stores that are either online or have a printed catalog or both. I want to contact them to see if they would like to sell my Helmet Hook (see my sig).

    THanks

    Hi guys,

I hope things are looking up for you and that you've managed to find something locally. I don't know Bordeaux as well as I should but if you're looking for 'big' motorcycle dealerships, there are a few on the outskirts of Toulouse that I've used so perhaps you could get there in 'limp-home' mode?

If you want to buy the tools yourself, I'd investigate the Gamm Verts as they tend to sell a range of tools for a reasonable price. I'd avoid the car/tractor dealerships as they have always been twice the price for the same tool.

I'd offer my assistance but sadly I'm in Singapore now so can't be of more use.

    Good luck guys!!!

Automatic fuel stations have suddenly stopped accepting my pre paid Euro debit card (Mastercard). It works everywhere else and this problem only started a few days ago. Anyone experienced similar issues?

I got this reply from FairFX:

Unfortunately there is a service restriction on the FairFX Card at some self service petrol pumps and motorway toll booths, particularly in France. This is because the terminals used at toll booths do not check the balance of a card before taking payment. This is a danger to yourself and FairFX, as it could potentially take a pre-paid card into a negative balance. So for this reason any such terminals are not able to accept the card.

I've looking around online and it seems to be a common problem for foreign cards used in France. It was the sudden stop that I don't understand. I was planning to go to Spain in June anyway so it's not a major problem for me, but it is really bad for some, getting stranded and toll booths and fuel stations.

    Makes sense,

FYI "Visa Electron" and "MasterCard Maestro" do not work neither on highway toll stations.

On motorways, you will almost always have somebody 24/7 (with the exception of Esso Express, there are 1 or 2 on the network)

If you only have cash or a prepaid card, you can google "Horaires station XXX YYYY" (Petrol Station = Station-service ; Horaires = Opening timetable)

Total makes the "Carte Jubileo" which works 24/7 on TOTAL, TOTAL Access, Elf and Elan stations. It is a prepaid card, which makes it easy for a traveller to get one.

Amex chipped cards are being more and more accepted nowadays if you get stranded somewhere, try it !

He crashed at my apt for 3 months back in 93. He told me when I wanted to visit France, he would give me the grand tour. 20+ years later, I'm ready! He went by the name of Fred, had a girl named Lidvine. [IMG]

Recently bought a holiday house in St Michel, Gers but will be moving there permanently in 3 years time.

If there's anyone local, I'd be interested in knowing where I can ride off road, legally, on my DR350? I see lots of posts about the Spanish Pyrenees, but not much about the French side, is it a 'non, non' to ride the trails?

Also if anyone knows of any trials practice areas nearby, so I can scratch that itch....

    Beautiful part of the World!

Well, another "rosbeef" in the Gers :D

I'm in Cologne (Yes, in France, Gers, not Germany!)

Trails are authorized unless specified otherwise ...
Lots (most?) of the trails are forbiden sadly.

In the pyrenees, There's a lot of unpaved roads you can take without any concerns.
Those are just "regular" roads where road rules apply (yes, speed limits too :p)... they are just unpaved/unmaintained.

I can not show you the trails, I don't have an Enduro bike ready yet (maybe in 3 years, I'll have bought a gas gas :D)

    anyway, welcome :)
I hope you like ducks ...

    Hi Mercury,

You'll be about 30km down the road from us so 'next door ' by local Gers standards. Great part of the world to explore by bike, both on-road and off it.

I'm usually around during the summer but generally one weekend per month at other times. Let me know once you have your toy down here and I can show you a couple of nice 'local' runs.

    Kr,

    Simon

Hi guys. My wife and I are going to be playing tourists in Paris, Normandy, Bruges, Brussels and Amsterdam in February. Along with the typical touristy things, what should not be missed? We like neighborhood cafés and places locals go. Any suggestions? How about motorcycle related? I know these are general questions, but it our first there. Thanks
