it might be 50 at Furnace Creek or Beatty but at higher elevations through the passes it could dip below 30.
and of course you know this, but going 60mph+ at 40 or 50 degrees is downright chilly.
i tell anyone riding the dez to be ready for anything. dress for 20 degrees and 70 degrees.
i may be heading out to DV the weekend of the 4th. doing a Sunday to Tuesday camp off the bike cruise. :jkam:kumbaya

You should go to Mojave Preserve. It's totally the epic desert destination. I hooked Joel up with my go to camp location and a few ideas where to go for this weekend. Way too cold for me but I can't wait to hear of their travels.
    More discussion tomorrow!

Good news everyone, we survived and it was a glorious day.

Pahrump in the morning dropped down to about 28 but once we got into the valley the temperature kept rising all the way to ~62 in Furnace creek, then down to about 36 at Father Crowley point and about the same now in Lone Pine. I expected a ride through DV to be good but not this good, the scenery was absolutely amazing, weather cooperated, perfect road conditions.. Off to Lake Isabella tomorrow and then south.

Road from Trona, Fish Canyon, escape route, Goler Wash, Manly Pass, Mengel Pass, West Side Rd into Furnace Creek. Street into Beaty NV.
Winter is here. Warm riding gear recommended. Some ice on Goler Wash. [IMG]

Titus canyon a bit "non freeway" today from last rain storms. Still easy. A guy on a huge GS 1200 Adventure made it through. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Wow, those photos look great!

Considering the weather this weekend, I'm now thinking the lower elevations of Death Valley is probably the safest bet. Looks like 54 degrees on Sat, moving up the high 60s on Monday. Better than the 43 degree high at Toroweap.

I've only done paved roads in DV, but looking to do some easy dirt roads. Will have a new TCK70 on the front, and a TrailAttack 2 on the rear, so that (any my novice big bike skills) will limit things a bit. For some reason my wife wants me home on Tuesday, so I need to make my flight in one piece. :D

Coming form North Vegas, so I'm thinking of arriving into Titus Canyon which dumps me off onto pavement. Need to camp the first night, so probably Mesquite Spring and a morning visit to the castle and surrounding area.

Next day, have no idea. Open to ideas considering my capabilities, the weather and the short days. At least camping offers some flexibility.

Would like to get to Dante's Peak, but thinking snow might be an issue. Heated grips and seat will be a nice welcome!

Outstanding pics. Looks like you didn't have any "on road" conditions to worry about on your loop through Death Valley.

We really lucked out, one day later and we would have probably hit snow in Lone Pine and in Joshua Tree NP. Thanks again for the planning advice.
