This is the offial blog for Bacon (the pig) travelling around the world by advrider relay. To read about the pre-trip planning or would like to be part of the relay, please say so here.. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=265066 and keep watch on where Bacon is up to around the world. if he gets close to your home, yell out. The above link also contains the rules for the relay although i'd like to think of them as 'guidelines' than rules.

    So lets begin........:clap

Hi All, My name is bacon and I LOVE riding co-pilot with any ADVRIDER members. I have no cash but am willing to help fund my trip around the world by posing in EVERY photo you put up to this trip report.

I entered this world arriving at gazzafish's house in melbourne, Australia on Oct 23rd 2007.

It was an early start for bacon on day 1. Bacon and I left my house at 5:50am.. I tried to talk bacon into riding in my tank bag but he wouldn't hear of it so I strapped him safely onto my rear rack. Bacon was wrapped. :D
    [IMG]

We headed off through Geelong and towards the start of the ....

We continued on and the day was perfect. Virtually no traffic and the sun was shinning....

We got to lorne and continued onto Apollo Bay.
For those who dont know what the Great Ocean Road is like, I asked bacon to do some filming why I put the Dakar through its paces...
I tried to embed the video but couldnt get it to work so a link will have to suffice...
    http://www.youtube.com/v/gWO7p8mSGgM

Then we managed to pass 10 speed signs in just over a minute...

We headed to Apollo Bay where we met up with fellow ADVRIDER Crozz. together, the three of us headed North into the Otway Ranges area. Bacon was loving it. he was already covered in dust from the dirt roads and you couldn't get the smile off his face...literally. :D

We stopped at a mobile tower for a quick look..
and then to check the map..

Of course Bacon didnt believe we knew where we were going so he had to check it out...

He was happy we werent lost.

Bacon couldn't stop taking his eyes off the advrider sticker. i think he'd really love to have his own badge...:D
    [IMG]

It was then a very casual ride back to my house. Bacon was very pleased with his first outing and can;t wait to hook up with prestonpaul for his trip heading North..

    Stay tuned......:D

Hooray for Bacon! Mr. Happy Puppet is looking forward to a riding partner!

Whoever ends up taking him through W Montana should try to get Bacon across Beartooth Pass. He might get a bit chilly, but I think he'll like the views!

Well. the time came this morning when I had to say goodbye to bacon :cry

being Bacons very first carrier, we share a bond that only future carriers will experience. But in true ADVRIDER fassion, who am I to hold back the ambitions of such a great pig. Bacon has to travel and with that in mind, we headed off to meet Advrider PrestonPaul (carrier No.2).

Here's the inourgural meeting... Bacon WAS EXCITED. Especially when he saw the nice shinny KTM. (He'd never been on a KTM before and was keen to compare the thumpers):evil

Didnt manage to get a pic of me with Bacon :cry but im sure I'll get my chance when he returns in 12 months.

PrestonPaul was more than happy to help continue Bacon's journey and I have to say that bacon has already managed to get 2 total strangers with a common interest to meet and say "g'day" (Thats australian for hello :D ).

So thanks prestonpaul for getting involved and I hope Bacon has a fun and safe journey....I'll be watching.... :cry

So far, bacon has done 460K's on a BMW!!!!! I wonder after his total journey which bike brand would have taken him further??:evil
