Bring it on! Anyone running any Ortlieb or Wolfman bags off the back? I suppose you'd have to still use some sort of rack to keep them off the nuclear reactor. Need Dirtbagz...
I sent them an e-mail, but haven't heard back from them yet. I don't really want hard bags on this bike. Something soft and light is more what I am looking for.
Hey Dirtbagz, We need some nice dirtbagz for these here scooters (KTM690 Enduro). The mounting points are there. If you build it we will buy. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah send it here info@moto-sportpanniers.com
If it is, I will be looking elsewhere. I loved the BMW tankbag on my '01 GS, but the one that came with my '07 Adventure is WAY TOO BIG! So much so that I have never used it. I did take off the cross bar off of the handle bars to make room for it, but it is just too big. I need to sell it to someone with lots of storage needs and get something smaller.
Does anyone know the part number / name of the U-shape bracket that bolts onto the regular luggage racks? I think it's for the top case. I saw it on p 269 of the threadfest forum.... I already have the regular suitcase luggage racks, but want the topcase bracket to attach to it. Side note: I am working on integrating the stock grab handles into the luggage rack mounts. I want to give my pillion something to grab onto and keep hands away from that notoriously hot exhaust. Initial take: The bolt size is a flat socket cap screw size M8 1.25 x 70mm. If you cut off the bottom of the stock grab handles, you can use a longer bolt, pass it through the handles AND the luggage rack mounts. I have 90mm size on order, will post up with the fit results later this week. Loren
The Wolfman Enduro Bag fits the 690 very nicely. I have one on mine. http://www.wolfmanluggage.com/Tank/EnduroTank.html
those expedition saddle bags look interesting. i have an akra, so heat isn't such an issue. Has anyone tried soft saddle bags? i've been looking at doggie panniers, easy to modify, much less $.
Just a note as posted on the threadfest that the KTM-logo'd touratech hard luggage is intended to be used with the smaller (35l I think) box on the left by the exhaust, which sticks out more and the larger (42l I think) box on the the right; so that each side is equal. Dealers I talked to didn't know this, so I've got two of the bigger ones - will stick some pics up when the rest of my 'project' has finished.
Rick, The panniers are pretty easy to get on and off. You just have to unscrew a large hand wheel on the inside. They aren't easy to tote around - nothing to grab onto unless you want to rig up a strap to the lid. In any case, I think you may be under the impression that they are smaller than they are. It's not something I"d want to lug around (personally). Below is a pic of how they attach. Just put the bottom mounts over the lower rail, then rotate the aluminum tab upwards so that it holds onto the top rail and tighten inside hand wheel. Regards, Loren
Thanks Obiwan - great pictures! I ordered the rack and the 41l panniers but when they finally came there was only 1 pannier. My dealer had told me they were 2 for $300.00 ... anyways I didn't want to wait anymore or pay $600 so he sent them back, but I kept the rack. I found a great factory down the street yesterday that makes all kinds of cool boxes - they look really strong, and they are water proof and have some thing that keep them pressurized. Here's a link to their web site: http://www.melmat.com/DesktopDefault.aspx I think I may get two of those but I've been scratching my head trying to find a way to make them "quick realese" and still lockable. I wonder if trail tech would sell me a set of those hooks ...
Loren, where did you get the tubular racks??? I looked on the Touratech USA website and they are not available for the 690. I am trying to help a friend out who has your bike.
