Gasket Placement Question
I'm probably being too fussy and excuse the cell phone pics but does the strippy side of this OEM Yamaha head to carb manifold gasket go against the head? The strippy side has the sharp edges from being punched out of stock at the gasket factory

Look at it from the side, should be a few layers, probably 3 and one of the outside layers may be thicker. Should go against the head if you are fussy.

It's not a BMW.
Heck, if it was, the stripes would have to be aligned in a certain direction. Pick a side and put it in. |

Put the gasket on and see if it blocks the air flow at all. If it does flip it around!

Put whichever side is least likely to stick against the head. It's a lot easier to clean old gasket material from something you can put on the workbench.
