I have to agree that all of the KLIM badges would keep me from buying... Other than that, it looks really nice!
Hey there, I'm not saying it isn't in the thread somewhere, I am just saying after looking twice, I am too blind to find it: Has Klim announced potential pricing on the Badlands PANTS (I found the $849 msrp for the Jacket; I'm not THAT blind)? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help a brother out. Regarding Klim Bling: the logos wouldn't stop me from buying them, but I would be happier if they did get toned down a little.
This is what makes the Traverse (and upcoming Badlands) perfect. Not stuck with a crap liner that doesn't do anything, Or an outer shell that absorbs water. I ride the traverse suit from 95F to 26F. I've put three layers on underneath a Medium (5'10, 170) without any issues. How can anyone complain about a $300 goretex jacket that can do all the traverse can do? If I was Klim I'd be selling it for at least $100 more.... Jon
I think an armor option for this jacket would be nice. Maybe a non d3o armor option that is a little cheaper as well as the d3o version. Can't wait for the release of this...
you could probably use CE armour in this suit...questions is if you delete it when you buy would they credit you...the D3o is really not that much more expensive in the grand scheme of things if buying a suit at this price point to be honest.
Any word on a release date yet I am in the need of a new jacket and may wait if it is truly the fall and not middle of winter
word on the street is not until end of November...we got to try the Latitude jacket and Badlands pants....these are going to be hit~
Any chance someone could talk to Klim about making a neck (Leatt) brace compatible version along the lines of the Adventure system???? I would order on the spot if that was available. Thanks
We got to try the Latitude jacket with the Badlands pants and we both think these will be winners when they come out. Me personally love the idea of having the hip gators on the Latitude jacket which would allow women to wear a smaller size jacket...the preferred sized rather like what i am doing now..having to wear a Large Traverse jacket which is way too big in the chest all because of my grrl hips. In any case we are looking forward to the new suits. My suggestion would be that they also add hip gators to all their jackets. I does not take away one bit from the look and adds more flexibility for the rider. If my Traverse had them...with some arm vents I would say damn near perfect!
Answer: 1 version. WITH Leatt compatibility. The big void in the market right now is a jacket that offers on and off road protection, is waterproof from the outside in and not the other way around, but is still simple enough that it remains financially in the realm of spousal acceptance. The Adventure jacket fulfills the first two but not the third criteria. On top of that, for people like myself at least, the internal webbing as well as the bulk of the cargo pockets are features I don't need or want and as such I don't want to pay for them. I also suspect that especially the harness is disproportionately expensive (re: labor intensive) to manufacture and Klim is probably happy to strike this feature from an accounting point of view. The first criteria, again for me at least, means something that will protect me from road rash (which the vast majortiy of off road dedicated gear won't by virtue of their lack of the appropriate abrasion resistant materials) on the way to the trail as well as the knocks I might receive on the trail and then back again. And considering the numbers of people I saw wearing neck braces at the forum.LC8.info rally I was at yesterday (BIG thanks to the organizers!!! ), I think that building the neck brace feature in would significantly widen the jackets appeal. In anycase, I think that adding the feature, even if it added no more than say $50 to the final price, would win more potential buyers that adding it would turn potential buyers off.
Each day I wonder how I got through the last 40yrs of motorcycle riding without a neck brace:huh Gimme normal collars please. Greg.
If you read back there were a lot of complaints about the collar and most didn't want the Leatt compatibility as it adds complication and bulk. So, Klim removes it for their less .. call it 'durable' offering and there are complaints it's not included. Can't make everyone happy. I think if you are riding hard enough that you need the Leatt you also need the extra protection the ADV suit provides. This suit is less hardcore and the Latitude a bit less again. I think they have enough options out there for one company and give them big kudo's for trying this hard. I had an ADV jacket and don't use a Leatt so I didn't need the extra bulk. I found the internal harness a great idea. Once you do it up the jacket weighs nothing. Like JW says, larger armor would be first on the wish list, then a redesign of the collar .. which they have done, then work on the zippers. EDIT: on second thought do the zippers first!
