What a bl¤¤dy shame that GHR/Honda could not get BOTH of these guys to the "BIG SHOW" in january... with his (35th ?) placing on debut in 2011 (and a few top 15 leg results) despite some problems along the way, Jake would have been an ideal two man assault team paired with brother Jake (errr Todd I mean).

Aside from Ben Grabham (riding with KTM australia support in Dakar this coming event), Jake and Todd are the TWO most dominant and repeatedly successful riders from Oz in the safari/cross country scene.

A shame HRC can't find a spot for one of them?

:rofl:rofl No... (yeah )... well the boy's sure do give their own style to the "off the cuff" format interview eh...? :lol3

I loved the cricket scoring analogies at the end with regards Todd's recently altered single status... :rofl

I agree with you, SBS coverage shown on free to air is very limited. I hadn't seen any of the footage shown in the video on page 1 of this thread, Awesome clip! I can't wait for Dakar 2013, I better make sure I stop somewhere with tv coverage.

The intention for GHR this year is to continue the efforts from the 2011 coverage with daily photos and blog posts. It's not the whole event, but with T Smith, W Strange, P Smith and two honorable South Africans it will still be worth following.

Massive shame, it will happen someday though I imagine.
Whatever happened to the video of the whole journey / event that GHR were supposed to be putting together after the first attempt ? Would have raised their profile and some funds, no ?

Sounds like Honda will be looking for a couple of riders for dakar considering the events that have happen in the USA in the last 24hrs.
Surely they could do no worse than to Grab someone like Jake to fill in.

I'm waaaay ahead of you... :evil

I put my vote "in" for setting the wheels in motion, with a few e-mails and phone calls just over 48 hours ago... Waiting to see now with great apprehension what the brass at HRC decide put forth as a statement, and plan to do as far as the Dakar 2013 squad is concerned...

Again, thoughts and prayers with Felipe and a "get well soon" to Sam...

    Hey Joe,

No rallies in the plan for the near future.

I see that you've moved! I ride out there a bit so we should catch-up for a ride / explore.

    Folks

I thought a few of you might find this interesting. From 2003 to 2013, 24 Australians have participated in the Dakar 37 times recording 15 finished. Please refer to the stats table below. I have pulled this info together from several sources in the past few years so if there is any errors let me know.
