My brother & I rode here in 1988 and my wife & I rode back in 2008.
Batopilas Mexico at the end of the road and at the bottom of Copper Canyon. We had to hike to the church in 1988 but there was a gravel road to it in 2008. Trip in 1988 was on a XR500, 2008 was a BMW GSA.

The PNC Bank in Leonardtown, MD. The first pic was taken circa 1930. It was originally the First National Bank of St. Mary's, built in 1921. An addition was added in 1966. It was still in operation until July of last year (2013), when PNC restructured and closed this branch.

First pic probably from the 1940's

I had gone to the current fire hall and the pics were not matching at all. I had thought the building may have been rebuilt. I was standing across the street when a guy walks out of the fire hall so I go ask him if this is still the same fire hall that was used in the '40's. He tells me no, and then tells me all about the history of the building(s) and where they all used to be. He then told me that the building I was looking for was just up the street and said "Hop in, I'll take you there." WooHoo! We jumped in the fire chiefs pick up and he took me to the the place in the pic, which is now the current Knights Of Columbus building. Really good guy. He then tells me that before they used this building, they were located in a barn......challenge?

Lee purchased a 1962 Honda Superhawk new and has had it ever since. That's crowding some 50 years with the same bike. A few years ago, I was approached to try and recreate an 'updated' version of a picture taken from August 1963 of Lee and the bike. Always up for a challenge, I said I'd give it a try.

Lee and I met at the location where the picture was taken. He grew up in the house where I was standing in the initial shot, and I asked the owner if I could take some shots from the driveway. "Sure" was the enthusiastic response. Lee was patient as I had him roll forward then backward, foot up and out, left on the peg, hands and fingers here and there and on and on. And all this under a bright sun, and full-face bubble helmet. A real trooper.

After I shot a few rounds, we looked at the images and figured we'd try to get a bit better perspective then originally shot. So we did it again. Once the shooting was wrapped, the owner was wanting to show Lee the home and all the changes that have occured over the years. It was like watching a kid relive a part of their life many years ago. "Oh, this was my room....." and "...this is where I parked my motorcycle". The owner was happy to hear and record the history of the home and fill in some holes as well.

The shot presented some technical challenges such as overgrown trees, the curb had moved and the day was sunny vs cloudy when the original was shot. Yet overall, I think the objective was met.

So here's a couple shots from 1963 and 2011 of Lee and his 1962 Honda Superhawk.

The shot that started the project. Taken Aug '63

And what we were able to re-create.
