Hi again! Yesterday I did some backcountry-riding in comfortable temperature (Mexico) with very deep gravel (had to struggle a bit). First time I had to lift the bike : ) When I stopped I could hear a high-pitched weel-sound from the tank. When I opened it, the lock jumped up under high pressure. On the left side it was a bit weaker I think. Could that be because of dropping the bike? Could it have to do with the "recall"of the tank ventilation that has not been done yet?
DO NOT have the cross tank "update" performed on a early (non-990) tank that doesn't have the fittings already cast into the tank. The "update" fittings that are used fail and leak. You can resolve cross tank venting by following this as an example: You can additionally follow recommendations to modify the flap/check systems in the fill caps.
Thanks! Could you ship to Mexico? Would you even have a fan? Consider having two.. If the fan does not kick in but runs fine when i bypass the thermometer, is it clear that the thermometer is the problem or could it be something else? There was something in the plug to zthe thermostat that looked like gel... Cheers Toby
1. yes, shipping international is OK 2. yes, have many on hand 3. yes, thermo switch has probably failed if you can jump between the two terminals of the harness that plugs into the radiator thermo switch and the fan runs. "gel" may be dielectric grease, spray clean with contact or very light solvent, blow clear and apply fresh dielectric grease.
Sounds good. It is just 6 weeks or so ago when we replaced the thermo switch. Do you have those as well? Is it common that they fail?what would cause this? What would the bill look like? How many days do you think it would take so that I could figure out an adress? Maybe you know someone in Mexico? Right now I am in Juan (Los Mochis) and was heading for the KTM dealer in Culiacan,
