Yep, was there last Friday on a spur of the moment run. They're really trying to make it a good place to ride. Now, if they'd just ban the kwads...

Thanks Catfish. It was fun to get out during the week. Noone there and I desperately need the saddle time to get the new bike sorted out and get myself back in the swing of riding after so many years off.

    Lets do it again soon!

Thanks for the offer. I can get to Hollister as quickly from my place as I can get to Frank Rains, and the trail selection is better. Much cooler now also.

You ever get up to Carnegie? That's the closest place for me for a quick day ride.

It was good to meet & ride with you Ed. How about next Tuesday? :deal

I should have brought my camera on the trail. The Renz hills were covered in purple lupines. Then we got to the Tiger trail and it was closed. :cry Apparently the horny tiger salamanders come out on the trail once a year for a BIG ORGY!!! :viking :eek1 :lol3

I've got errands to run in Tracy next Tuesday (May 7th), so I'll head out to Carnegie that morning for some singletrack first. Temps back to normal by then. Look for my dark-green Tundra between Moto Mart & the restrooms at 9am. Let me know if you are coming!

Moto Mart is closed on Tuesdays, so Carnegie was empty most all day. :thumb Some moisture in places, dry elsewhere. Powdery where they previously did trail maintenance.

There was a hare scrambles or some kinda of competitive event recently, and the singletrack is pretty choppy now. Rode 57 miles :ricky, but needed ibuprofen & a rest break to finish the 3rd loop. :doh

The RAT BASTARDS are still TEASING me with the view of a new serpentine trail cut into the hillside above the mx track & below the SRI Loop, BUT the new gates are locked and they stopped the trail cut about 10 feet before it would join the SRI Loop. :becca :becca :becca

Off to Sequoia & the green hill next week (Tues-Wed)! :ricky PM me if interested.

Catfish not going to make Sequoia but lets get something on the books for next week. I should have all my gearing sorted by then so I will be ready for more tight single track!

Maybe we can get up to the forest somewhere...?

FYI - the last few days have given us some much needed rain. Rained again this morning for about 30-40 mins.

Yes, NOW would be the time to ride, if I had time. D'OH!

I'm kinda busy for the next 2 weeks. Ed & I have been talking about a day ride on June 13th at Stonyford.

Anyone else interested in Stonyford then? :ear Or maybe a Knoxville-OHV + Buck Island + swimming in Cache Creek DS ride if its too hot for Stonyford?

Looking forward to getting out there. I am doing everything I can to protect that date!!

I might try to sneak out next week as well if I can do it. I will post up to see if anyone is available in the next day or two.

Did you get out for a ride last week?

I had a nice ride with some of the local crazies recently. It started on Friday so it counts, right?

And many great creek crossings to finish off the ride!

Ms.Beta finally needs a valve adjustment (6100 miles, 246 hours).
Both intake valves have tightened up to minimum spec. If I can
find the right 10mm shims tomorrow, I want to ride THIS
    Thursday somewhere.

Thursday forecast temps will be HIGH (86 or higher) everywhere,
    except Hollister at 78 mid-afternoon.

Where would you like to ride on the 13th? Early for some cool morning?

Hey Catfish thats looks like an awesome ride. Weekends are tough but that would have been a good one to try to get out for!

I didn't make it out last week. I am still healing the ankle and I needed to give it a rest that day after a setback in physical therapy.

I have kept this Thursday open so I am ready to go. We were originally thinking Stonyford? But as you point out it will definitely be cooler in Hollister.

I am in either way. Let me know.

How's your ankle for some singletrack on Thursday? :ricky

I just looked and the forecasted high for Stonyford Thursday has dropped from 88 to 83. The high at Letts Lake expected to be 73. :clap Yes, let's go to Stonyford! I've not been up there since the fire. Use to be our favorite riding area.

Here is where the Little Stony CG is on Goat Mtn Road. They charge money to camp there now. :-( The free day-use staging area is 2 more curves west. The blue-intermediate climbs out of there are all black diamond now. Steep, & loose this time of year. Need plate for Goat Mtn Rd. & Letts Lake.

What time can you get there? Takes me about 3 hours, with a quick McDonalds stop.

    Anyone else interested?

I am only 15 minutes further south than you so I am about 3 hours as well. The ankle should be fine and like they say "there is only one way to find out!"

What time do you want to target getting there? 9am? 10am?

I got the new gearing on the bike so it should take the single track a little better.

Hitting the trails from the Little Stony day-use staging area at 10AM. Bring snacks, lunch, & water for all day. Lunch at Letts Lake.

Plated dirtbikes & experienced riders on blue & black-diamond trails.
