St Croix Cycle in Pine Falls is a Honda dealer and seems to have good stock of parts. They had Honda brake pads in stock for my 30 year old Goldwing! The guy is in Winnipeg a couple times a week too in case you want him to bring parts with him.
Well, it's got 136 miles on Trip Odo "A", not sure what it will have for real miles! Does a Sherpa have Total/Trip A/Trip B settings?
That would bend in the wrong direction. We needed more pullback without adding sweep. Twisted strangely. Couldn't hold onto it hard enough to twist it back without crushing it. I would need a 14" wide vise to stabilize the opposite end while holding it at the bend point. I did try some pipe to see where it bend but the end of the pipe was crushing the bar a bit and Mel still had to ride it home. Couldn't find any 7/8" ID pipe.
Mel, the guys a Capital Motosports always have a great selection of bars. The Pro Taper are nice and you should probably add a set of brush guards as well. Colour matched for sure
Already on it... tabs open in firefox are all handlebar places I'm trying to remove the acerbis handguards on my KLR but I can't get the part inside the bar out and all the helpful links online are for a different type of hardware it seems. I'll just post a pic, see if anyone can help
Don't know the particulars on these guards but usually the threaded tapered nut comes up against a spreader sleeve. Put the bolt back in and hit that with a hammer and drive the threaded section further in. Gently. Sometimes this is rubber. Try it on the other KLR in the shed. Break his first before you break yours.
Mel, better to just buy new handlebar colette inserts - Capital has 'em, I bought a pair there recently myself.
There exists no personal problem that cannot be solved with an appropriate application of high explosives.
I did a little exploring up along the east side of the lake on my way up to Grand Beach today. A few pics... A quick stop at Timmies in case anyone else wanted to join in... no one else showed, but I was a few minutes late (got there like 11:05). Off I went. No bike gathering... they have no loitering signs up now! Skinners at Lockport: An old log cabin on floodplain beside the river along River Rd between Lower Fort Garry and Selkirk: St Peter's Church east side of the Red north of East Selkirk - built 1853! Lady next door (caretaker?) saw me there, came and opened the door for me - nice! Made some lunch and a coffee with new LPG stove set-up - it all fits in the pot! Followed gravel along the lakeshore towards Libau... came across this on a farmyard on a dead end road - everyone needs a crashed aircraft in their junkyard collection! Little church in Libau: This old elevator in town is on borrowed time as the rails are gone in most places on the line: There was lots of "handyman special fixer uppers" in the country there - this one has potential: Stumbled across this jewel on 32E north of Libau - St James Anglican Church Poplar Park: My first glimpse of the lake at end of gravel on a rise NE of Libau: Grand Beach boardwalk - lots of ice still on the lake! Looking a little better at Patricia Beach: That's it! On the way back home on 59 my engine stumbled for a few seconds like it was out of gas... I dropped a gear, switched to reserve and it cleared itself - scared me, but it ran normal after that. Must have had some bad gas!? Was running regular (water/ethanol blend :huh) - gassed up with premium in Selkirk and all good.
Managed to get out late in the day, sorry GWN could not hook up with you. Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk
Hey GWN where do you get the short canisters for your stove? I have one of those stoves for the short canisters but could only find the canisters that were twice as tall.
$10 at Cdn Tire, same exact canister $6 at MEC. Conversely, the exact same burner/stove was cheaper at Cdn Tire! This one: http://www.mec.ca/product/4010-927/primus-classic-trail-lpg-stove/?q=primus Damn good value. Had to mod it (reduce diameter) to get it to fit in the cookset. If I wasn't such a cheapskate I'd buy this one: http://www.mec.ca/product/5040-831/...No=80&h=10+50130+50035+50491&f=10+50130+50491
These things really help, boil water/cook in 1 third the time on a mildly windy day. http://www.mec.ca/product/5003-166/primus-windscreen-and-heat-reflector-set/?bc=10/50130/50130+50491
This is made to work with the Optimus Terra Weekend HE cookset, and will fit all canisters: http://www.amazon.ca/Optimus-Clip-On-Windshield-8018907/dp/B00F5EUL7S I had to shield the stove with my jacket there - was a bit windy, worse later in the afternoon. I also have this folding aluminum windscreen on the way: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/121228197020?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Without some kind of windscreen these little camp stoves aren't very effective (in windy conditions) IMO.
That looks good too. All I ever did was bring some aluminum foil but the flexible ones are great too.
Does anyone here have a M12x1.5 timesert kit with one left over? Gotta fill a >16mm or so hole though so probably not the specific one I need, but worth asking. It'd be a waste to buy all the tools if someone already has a kit though. Needless to say, no ride report today.
