<s> Some squid I know</s> A good friend of mine is riding to Laguna Seca with me, what do you guys recommend?

He's never been more than about 150 miles from the barn on a bike*, has no idea of how to carry stuff beyond a backpack...

    Thanks
    CA Stu

*He does commute 75 miles a day on it, however.

    OK Stu,

I ignored this the first time through ( I kinda detest sport bikes :lol3 ) BUT

    I'll try to be helpful

If he is willing to spend some $ then get one of these

Works great and has a rain cover & Luggage Handle

Something like this -- albeit I have too much crap. That's a Recon 19 on the tank. Great Mag Bag w/rain cover and doubles as a backpack with H2O /Audio capability.

It really holds a lot and is very stable/secure. If he mounts it right he will have a backrest and seeing as he isn't used to the miles THIS IS USEFUL.

Good luck and ride safe. :freaky

+ tail bag + tank bag and i can go anywhere for any amount of time. I travel light.

Also, have him check Twistedthrottle.com in general. They have a "What fits my bike" thingy and there are lots of options for tailbags and tankbags.

if he's got an R1 with the undertail pipes, his options will be somewhat more limited.

here's US40 on a 675 with undertail pipe...nice and clean, far away from the pipe heat.
