Hola inmates Did not want hi jack other people tires threat and hope for fast response with a new threat. I have swapt the tire for couple time now but still have problem with the rear. I am trying to spoon the last section of the tire but for the life of me the damn last section will not move and I am out of breath... I have been fighting with this rear tire for the last two days and no success I am not giving up......I want to know what I have done wrong so please take a look at the pictures and let me know what I need to do to get this last section in Oh and please be easy on me especially Reaver, Loud and Fred...! One side is in Here is the last section that I have a hell of a time to get it in
First thing you need to do, is to press down on the opposite side of the tire while you work the remaining part over the rim with your tire spoons. This will get the edge of the tire into the deepest part of the rim and in return give you more room to play with on the last bit. I usually sit with my knees on the tire to press it down, while working the opposite side with the tire irons.. If you don´t do this its almost impossible to manually get the tire on the rim.. If you let your tire/wheel combo lie in the sun for an hour or so before working on it, the tire will be a lot warmer/softer and more pliable to work with, which also helps a great deal.. Finally I sometimes lube the inside and edge of the last bit of tire with tire lube or just dish wash liquid to make it slide over the rim easier.. Hope this helps.. Alex.
Repeat as said above, You need to get the opposite side of the tire bead pushed down into the centre of the rim as best you can.
Thousand ways to skin a cat. More lub and try this <IFRAME height=315 src="//www.youtube.com/embed/4-PD48uGl4o" frameBorder=0 width=560 allowfullscreen></IFRAME>
Warmth of the sun, push the part at 6:00 in as you are spooning the part at 12:00,lube windex has become my friend for this,as I often hear and have to remind myself when I'm about where you are on a tire"if your working to hard your doing it wrong"stop look at porn or whatever calms you down then try again.Im not sure how much you've done this but for me I've done many and I'm finally getting to the point where it's getting easier but some tires do remind me I have much to learn cause I'm to cheap to pay someone else to do this,I'm like some crazy old man that tells you I walked 10 miles in the snow up hill both ways.
Haha This is entertaining..... This is my 3rd time So here is my past experience the 1st time going well but then the arrow of the rotation were wrong Took it all off and start all over again......All went well untill I fill the air up.......Fawk I pinch the tube 3rd time after replace a new tube I partially inflate and it seem to hold up but then I am stuck at this point....... I guess I should go for a walk or to release my frustration
You mean Loutre? He's Loud. OK so they beat me too it. Good thing we didn't do Baja together or I'd be fixing everything! Where'd ya put the red dot on the tire????
I've remounted many cause the arrow was going the wrong way,I eat my pride and write it off as well I need more practice, and those damn tubes I've pinched many, but as with many things Im getting better, and don't panick like I used to when I have tire issues out in the middle BFE.
I hear you 8lives I am keep on trying until I get perfection Reaver If we were in Baja I would use Green slime fill her up rode to the nearest tacos stand have some tacos and cold beers while watching the local replacing my tire They help me and I help them.....Win win
Ah, that's just mean to drop that on him now. Well at least he can still back track to fix it before he sets all of the 2nd bead. The only other thing to add is as you get close to the end on the 2nd side, take little "bites." Don't try to pry the last 6" on in one go. It won't happen. I also noticed a comment earlier to use Windex as a lube. Best to steer clear of that. The ammonia in Windex will eat aluminum over time. How's that for a new threat?
I am using soap and WD40....No windex for me Sir What is it about the Red dot? Thanks for your suggestion You guys killing me....
Oh Ya I forgot about the red dot, some don't have markings so yours may be 1 of those that don't,the nice thing about astroglide is most of the sex lube don't do bad stuff to rubbers or tires, off brands are cheaper and multitask well, tire mounting and women mounting Im in,I used to carry KY with me for roadside tire repairs and spur of the moment antics with my wife, what woman can resist a sweaty pissed off guy who just did a roadside tire job.
WooooooooooooHooooooooooooo 8lives were right, you need to walk away and come back with a clear mind Thanks motorsport and everyone else for the tips. That was hell of a job, I sweat like a pig and wish I have extra hands I think I am going to have a cold beer and start all over again for perfection.
- Good Job Scuba! We knew you'd get it but uh, those tires aren't well suited for Death Valley or Baja.. ? btw - this has been a great threat !
Ride with whatcha got, never wait for the perfect gear, search around on here people that are out far from the good ol' USofA and you'll see if it holds air and goes round and round and round it's gonna work, those tires look fine. Not to be snarky but when I was younger and sailed my small boat in the ocean people would always say"oh my you don't have all the gadgets and it so small"but they stayed tied to the dock and I headed out to sea,I find motorcycling the same its nice to have all the cool stuff but I perfer to buy gas and go with what I have.
My F800GS came with those tires, I took them off and run TKC-80's, I put them back on for a ride up Hwy 1 and I thought I had a sport bike.
