Small change of plans......I stayed in Oregon and Paul headed south. I have always wanted to see Washington and It looks like I picked the worst days to do it. So tomorrow Im going to head up there to at least say I have done it then head back south. Going to ship the bike home from Cali, and Paul is heading out as I type. Pics of today's ride to follow.....

Fist let me start off by saying Thank You Chewie...... He sent thes pins for us, and Sean gave them to us the other day.....

The day started out great, wonderful morning, and great food......

Then it was time to head north along the coast.....

    Soon it was redwood country.....

Finally another one of the list......

Then I started hatching an idea....I wanted to knock Washington off the list, but time was a constraint w/Paul and myself. So I decided to head up to Washington tomorrow and then back south. Hopefully Ill be able to find someplace to leave the bike, and ship it back. This way I can see some more of the things that I wanted, and have time to get home and get ready to start paying this vacation off!!!! It was tough saying goodbye to Paul, he was great to be around. Always smiling and always has something positive to say. A great person to ride with, and and even better person to hang around with. Thank for letting me tag along Paul......

So long Jay. It was a pleasure brother. Thanks for being a patient riding partner. I know I'm slow, but my objective is to arrive alive so that I can do it again. Chris, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. It was HARD turning back toward the southeast today, but all good things must end. I have decided that I am going to see the Grand Canyon on my way home. I have never seen it, and the weather makes a more northerly route home a little iffy.

The pics have been great. I really enjoyed my time on the Blue Line Tour with both of you. Paul...if you are coming back through Beaumont dinner is on me...and you have a place to stay. Since I don't know what your schedule is for the return, here's what's going on with me...I'll be on SWAT Sept. 21-23 and will only be available after 5 p.m. Call me or PM if you can stop or need anything.

Jay....e-mail me your address and I'll get a patch out to you....

Paul, I'd recommend the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The entry to it is beautiful and curvy, it has less traffic/visitors than the south, and the view is better.

Eh, scratch Zion right now. The highway through it is totally torn up for construction with traffic backed up over an hour. Perhaps on the next tour. It's totally worth seeing, though, I agree.

North Rim is great! Free "dispersed" camping in the National Forest (outside of the Park) and you can go all the way to the edge of the Canyon to set up.

So with the change of days.....comes a change of plans......pics to follow shortly......
So after talking to a friends or two, and someone that may know me better than I know myself, "Are you sure you want to do this, you wont regret it when your home, bored waiting for your bike to arrive?" That statement just kind or ran through my head all night. So I woke up this morning, checked a few things and decided to head out.

Ran into the guy riding the GS, he said that he was doing a four corners thing and was heading the way I just came from. So we exchanged stories, rout suggestions and said, "have a safe ride"

    Heading out to Crater Lake.....

Its just like Hwy 50 w/trees!!!!!

A small stream on the way out......

On the way up.....I wanted to stop and get a postcard or two, but the place didnt open till 9....

    Bike shot....

And a few from around the lake....

    Ya knew it was coming.....

    Looking the other way.....

As you can see from the pics, clouds started rolling in, it dropped about ten deg. So I decided to head out and get my goal accomplished......Washington.....Well on the way I come around a curve and see a whole bunch of these things.....

    Then finally.....

Crossing the bridge....no sign no nothing. Oh well, its the little victories in life that count, and I can cross this one off the list. Just a little more proof.....

then it was time to head out east. My rear tire was starting to wear a little, not too bad but I have plans to go some places and didnt want to get stuck w a bad tire so I set up an Apt. In Boise to get a tire...time to make tracks.....Just a scee or two from on the way.....

    Even horses need a break......

Thats it for today.....thanks for looking!!!!!

I made about 600 miles today from Klamath Falls to Ely NV. Temperature extremes from 42 to nearly 100. Gotta love layering huh? It wasn't much of a sightseeing trip, but I did manage to snap off a few good shots. I should probably take occasion to apologize to Kansas for all the disparaging remarks I made about that fine state. Riding through Nevada makes Kansas look like a veritable Utopia. Tomorrow I meet GrizGirl in the Bryce Canyon area where we hope to get some good sunset photos of the canyon. GrizGirl is a passionate rider and photographer. It should be a great few days as she treks east with me.

This is why it's necessary to add a digit when traveling through NV. Two digits is just not enough to get you through that place :lol3
