I went over to SchizzMan's mother place at 8:30 and after meeting both of them, we were on the road. BTW, MRS SchizzMan is a very nice lady! After about an hour and a half we met up with Tom and Joe. And continued on. I can't really tell you what all Farm Roads we rode on, but I can tell you that we rode them very very quickly! My little R1100GS was struggling to keep up with the two R1200ADVs and the 990ADVS, but I managed to keep them in sight! At lunch we were joined by Alex on a 955 Tiger. And the Speed Tour continued! Alex had to peel off after a couple of hours and we continued on. The high temp for the day was 92. We ran through numerous rain showers that would bring temps down into the 70s. By the time you would dry off, there would be another one. This was fine as it kept the max temp down! Before arriving to Uvalde we ran through a good sized rain storm that had many people pulling to the side of the road! :eek1 We stopped at a Quality Inn that was the Holiday Inn many years ago. I had stayed there for a month or so when I transferred with my job to Mexico. BTW, Joe and Alex are both career Army stationed at Fort Hood. Joe is a helicopter pilot and Alex is an officer of some type. Here is JD (SchizzMan) and Joe in the back ground. Sort of pretty! Don't you think?
We rode to Eagle Pass on the same route that I used six days a week for five and a half years! It has not changed much! We crossed the border, got some pesos and headed toward Saltillo on MX57. The scenery is not that great, but you have to go through it to get to the good stuff!
As we approached Saltillo, the scenery got better and I believe that we were on a stretch that I have not been on before.
We stopped for the night at Saltillo at an old Hacienda that has been converted to a resort type facility. Very beautiful. I walked around and took a few pictures.
Well, I am in on this too. I am starting my ride in about a month. Heading out west and up the coast, my new wifey will be with me til Seattle and she flies back to Dallas from there. Then I will be going solo, maybe to Alaska, or just up in Canada some, then back in the states. No real plan though. I am traveling a bit heavier than you guys. I will be on a Goldwing with a Hannigan sidecar pulling a Kwikcamp trailer. It's my new ride. I want to do Baja California next year.
Tell Hector thanks for the stickers! Took this about 2 miles from work on the way in last Thursday. Subscribed! Best wishes,
