Dualsport or off road riding in central Az.

I will be travaling from N.Ca. to visit Yuma March 3,4, and 5. When leaving would like to head towards Prescott Valley,
Camp Verde, or Sedona area. Can anyone recommend RV parks with good riding close by any of these places.
I will be bringing a KTM 350exc and 990 Adv.

If you will be comming in on SR95 towards I 40 you might want to stop in Lake Havasu City. There are plenty of places to dry camp as well as many RV parks. lots os riding all around the city.

staying at the rv park by the cliff castle casino, in camp verde will put you in the middle of a lot of places to ride either bike.

Dead Horse state park is in the middle of the Verde Valley and is nice. It could be cold this time of year. I did Bloody Basin yesterday and it was cold, today its snowing...

Ned's in Cottonwood, Will's in Chino Valley & I'm three miles from the casino, you got no excuses not to stop & say HI. I'm sure one of us will get you were you want to be. It is ,however, snowing at the moment & heaver amounts to come in tonite from 3000 to 7000 ft range. But most of it will be gone when you arrive.

Alamo Lake State Park, Near Wenden AZ is along your path... (www.azstateparks.com) for reservations. Weather will be good and miles of great riding nearby.
The higher elevations your speaking of could be very cool that time of year.
There are also several places in Wickenburg, however most RV parks are full this time of year. Do you need full hookups or can you dry camp for a few days. If dry camping the Town of Wickenburg has a nice campground on constellation road. Ride out your backdoor like I do...

stay to the west or south west. Still planning.
One other question, do I need any tag or decal for a Ca. street licensed
motorcycle to operate off road in Az?

If you make it too Sedona which is saweeeet! full of awesome creeks and vortexs and rich hippies. Not too mention absolutely beautiful red rocks, i would recommend going up Schnebley Hill. It is on FS land and goes up to the top of the canyon. only like 10 miles, but it is where all the jeep tours go in the summer and is way worth it. I am not sure if it is open year round though.... should check it out online. Also i am not sure when you are heading out there, but i hear it is snowing pretty hard all throughout AZ, even in the valley right now, so sedona might not be legit. here is a pic from like half way up the hill.

If i remember correctly, you need OHV tags if you go off roads. I know thats kinda obvious, but some people consider FS roads off road. so if you stick to FS roads then street plates are fine. honestly though, i doubt anyone is enforcing shit this season.

Any other states OHV tag is honored by AZ if legal in your home state & current

I'm 30 min up the hill in Flagstaff. HUGE difference in temps/riding conditions right now from Sedona/Verde Valley. Stick to the valley area's and you'll be fine.

As previously mentioned your Ca OHV tag will be fine though I don't believe it will cover you for State Trust land which is ok to pass through but pass required if you plan on camping. Thats my understanding...

I travel to Norcal often for offroad riding. Too bad 90% of the Rangers there don't understand Ca recognizes Az OHV tags. I carry doc's from Ca.gov website to show as I constantly get pulled by rangers. That and having a street plated 2 stroke gets them all in a tizzy. "You can't ride that on the street!" Oh yes I can!!

I think maybe you misunderstood------- Arizona will honor YOUR home state OHV sticker plus your street regerstion.

As Belstaff reiterated....you need an OHV sticker to be legal.

"Non-residents that meet all of the following are
exempt from OHV Decal purchase:
&#9679; The person is not a resident of Arizona .
&#9679; The person owns the vehicle .
&#9679; The vehicle displays a current OHV Decal or
registration from the person’s home state of
residency .
&#9679; The vehicle is not in the state for more than
30 consecutive days"

so i'd say you should be ok
