Grand Canyon - places to stay

Hey guys - looking for some tips from you locals on places to stay at the Grand Canyon. My wife is turning 40 this year and we are looking to have a mini vacation in early Nov with a few nights in Vegas and a few at the Canyon.

Vegas is Vegas, np finding something fun to do there, but we have never been to the canyon. Expecting the nights will be cool, but we are OK with that. She would love a hotel with good food, an outdoor bar with fireplace and a view of the canyon. Does such a place exist? Any suggestions are appreciated!

The nights in November will be COLD, even here in Vegas. You may see snow at some of the upper elevations.

The canyon is beautiful year round. November will be chilly, but that is no reason to stay away. The road to the north rim normally closes some time in October due to snow, and doesn't open until May, which is too bad, because I would definitely recommend the lodge there for great view, good eating and relaxation. But the south rim is great too, and there are several lodging options, of which El Tovar is the most classy. All lodging at the Grand Canyon tends to fill up long in advance, so book now if you can. Thanks for the replies! We are booked into the Kachina hotel in a room right on the rim with a great view with dinner reservations at ElTovar.
