Planning a ride for this upcoming Saturday 3/20/10 near Shoe Creek/Montebello area. Hopefully the weather drys up a bit.

You will need a street tagged bike for this ride. I am slow so don't worry about being the "last guy". Ride your own ride. I'm open to suggestions for a meeting time and place. In the past I've met the guys at a picnic area off RT 60W.

    So far we have myself

Be ready to ride at 8:30am at the wayside off RT 60 near Swapping Camp Rd intersection. (Better directions futher in this thread)
If you can't make it by then we will be at Montebello Store around 10am to re-fuel, snack, chat...

    The more the merrier.:ricky

Respond with an "IN" and you can PM me your contact info. Hope to get a good group ride going!

Awesome guys! I forgot about that I have to be at a fundraising event in Petersburg by 6pm so I'll be leaving around 3ish. You all will be in good hands if you guys continue on your ride past then.

It looks like we are gonna have a good turn out!

Shoe Creek should be ok although they were doing some logging in there and graded most of the rocky sections its not as fun as it used to be. We have been working 7 days a week since thanksgiving but I will see how the week goes

I've probably ridden it but I didn't know where I was, if you've followed yeti you know what I mean. Refresh my memory on the "shoe creek" area, you said montibello area so I'm immediately thinking the road that goes to the crabtree falls upper hiking trail.

I searched and came up with rt 826 which IS the road I was thinking. I vote for meeting at the store.

I'd been thinking the Shoe Creek Jeep road which goes from Alhambra to Montebello and the Sherondo Jeep Trail off the Blue Ridge Parkway. The logging on Shoe Creek last time I was up there did significantly lower the challenge.

    Are the Sherondo gates closed?

    I respect gates. Long story.

IT will be plenty wet. I was down on the Piney River paddling today and all the side tribs were running.

I'm in! I've never ridden out that way. Are these fire roads or trails that you guys are meeting up at? I'm throwing the bike in the back of the truck since I'm nearly 2 hours away, is there somewhere to leave the truck?

I thought big levels opened in march, it's usually open all summer so it's not just a hunter access trail. I'll do a drive by this week and report back.
