More to come once THEY collect! $$$$$$$$$$ We're all jealous here in the US. Sometime they WILL arrive! Jennifer Rickmers...Jennifer Rickmers!
When I had my GS crated for a move, the dealer used a crate from a newly delivered GS (no charge for the crate). I saved the crate and made a workbench out of it. If you want some fine lumber, ask for the crate...you paid for it. If the dealer refuses, tell him to deduct for the crate cost. Take it home and make a table out of it.
That thing needs an underseat exhaust system. The muffler looks like someone bolted a Dyson vacuum cleaner to the RH side. It is just downright ugly. Also, I have noticed that BMW is hanging more plastic on the GS as the new models evolve. Congratulations on your new GS. Most of us here in the colonies cannot afford one any more....they're just too expensive. If I ever buy a newer model (mine is a 2001), I'll likely buy a used one.
It appears much larger in pictures, the exhaust is actually quite narrow in person. Not that it changes the look (which I am fine with) but it is not canister shaped like the side profile would suggest. Personally, I hate underseat exhausts, so I am glad they didn't go that route.
Where is the bike picture located? Just heard from my dealer that mid-May is when the northeast USA is probably going to see the new machines. :eek1
They have arrived here in Newfoundland in Eastern Canada. Local dealer has a snazzy new red one on the floor.
That's about the time - the snow is melting there. I think California should get them first, so we can get some 1200 GS action pictures fast. And congrats to all the new owners - it looks like you are going to own an amazing bike. Hope to see some of you soon on the road petzi-baer
I'm pretty sure it will be a LOT sooner than that. In fact, I know that they are already in the US and have a team of technicians fixing a recall on them as we speak. Those should be ready shortly. Last I heard, late March is the release date.
Congrats to the new owners! Safe ride and enjoy your new 2 wheeled therapist To others, if you're here to rain on their parade, we ask you to read the posted rules in GSpot. The negativity has been punted..
Thanks for sharing your really deep thoughts. Just sayin' . I was just thinking the muffler looks really sharp... that's my positive contribution to this thread
Thanks for the heads up on the location of 2...count 'em...2 NEW 2013 R1200GS.:huh In a small town of 2,239 people in an area of 1.2 square miles...it shouldn't be hard to find them...I mean...you!! Lucky bastard.
Okay, okay, okay. I has question. Why does the exhaust exit the head, turn FORWARD into a tight kink only to bend rearward again? Why not relax the bends and exit down and rearward right off the bottom of the head? Looks a bit convoluted, eh? Nice looking bike otherwise. But who here would rather have an HP2e vs a water cooled GS?
Exhaust probably routes like that because it has to be a certain length to perform best which makes it not look the best. Rather have it work better than look better.
When the new GS arrives then I'll be lucky enough to have both. Dealer emailed today saying they may get 4 launch bikes in this month before the one I have on order comes in. If one of them is equipped right I will snag it right away. Congrats to all those have picked up their new bikes. Keep the pictures coming.
