We've gone beyond that...we have matching DR200s and matching DR650s. Plus we have matching hi-vis Darien jackets. Oh, well.
Yeah, when I wear my moto boots it could be as much as 30 inches.. I had street shoes on when I sat on the WR250R and I was rocking back and forth, tiptoe to tiptoe.... My KTM200EXC is pretty tall but settles right down when I sit on it, enough so I can kickstart it just about anywhere. I did a bit of searching and found that theres' an adjustment to lower the rear about an inch, if you need more, you can go with a yamalink. And of course, seat shaving....
WOW! I take all that back... Real problem is there seems to be no DR200s available. Since we bought ours, nothing on Sacramento or SF Bay Area craigslist. Kind of have a $2k limit, about what we'd get for her CRF230. Pat
There's a whole thread on here somewhere on lowering the WR250R. Ladybug, I seem to remember that you had your stator redone for more output. How is that working out?
$4500 Out the Door at the dealer. We paid $1700 for our current one, it's a 2002 but in perfect condition. Back in my home state of Vermont, used bikes are much cheaper than here, of course they have a 100 day season and we have a 350 day season. The 15 days you can't ride here are usually powder days, so all is forgiven.
She's using it as a full-on DR200GS adventure touring bike replete with numerous electric accessories and electronic gadgets.
Nice! I always call ours a "200GS" to tweak my GS & GSA owning neighbor, but that really looks like a Gelaende Sport/Strasse!
Stock suspension. The load probably looks heavier than it is but the load and me could stand to drop a few pounds. It's done fine loaded, and has been all over the place like that. There was one two week vacation with about 3500 miles on it ~ another 9 day vacation and 1800 miles plus numerous weekend trips. It's amazing what these bikes will do and I have a blast doing it.
I am thinking of buying a DR200 to use on the Big Island of Hawaii based in the Puna area. We're going to move there possibly as soon as a year from now. That island has a large dual sport and off road bunch of riders. Gas is more there, so the great gas mileage is a big bonus along with the big tank. The drawback is that the main highway (11) has a speed limit of 55 mph. I have to decide whether to ship my Sportster there, or sell it here. The other possibility is to sell my Enfield and Sportster, and then get a bigger dual sport and just have the one bike.Since there is a Suzuki dealer in nearby Hilo, either a DRZ400S or DR650 would make sense. Then whether to buy the bike there or ship one over is the next thing to decide. I've always liked the simplicity of an air cooled thumper.... Anyone here live on the Big Island?? Jon
Oh, OK, Monkey See, Monkey Do.... We've joined the his'n'herz brigade... Just this morning a 2004 200GSA popped up on my craigslist RSS, 2600mi, FMF pipe, $1500, by 4PM it was in the garage keeping Old Yeller company...
I'll be darned. Congratulations. It's a very special thing to be able to go out wandering on mini-bikes with the wife. We've really had some nice times.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=919 If I remember, the limitations are a little tight while you've still got that "n00b" status. But if you can upload them somewhere else (Picasa, Flickr, whatever) you should be able to just drop an IMG tag straight in. Cheers, Chris.
