Next Tuesday i drive 200 miles to get it welded. $200 and but this places welds gas tanks all the time (most places wont because of liability). If that doesnt work.... find some kind of filler and fill up the whole area inside the tank around the hole. If that doesnt work, It still looks better than my stock plastics which were all crushed.

Well today i drove 300miles to get the tank welded, I was told there was no guaranty they could do it, but I went anyway. They had it for 4 hours and when i came back I found this amazing piece of work!

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-08_17-36-09_123.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-08_17-36-09_123.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

They also reinforced the hole to give it extra strength.

How do they think it will hold up? I am just worried that if you drop the bike this will break easy. Will you be modifying crashguards? Or just rolling with it?

Cool beans! This is a great deal and will be an awesome addition to your bike. I am staying away from the large tank right now, like to be as nimble as possible.

I really dig that you stuck with this, while we all ran away hiding. :clap

With the tank all fixed and the paint touched up, time to bolt it in and attach the hoses. I filled the thank up with 2 gallons of gas. I held my breath and flipped the switch. The pump works! But i smell gas so i quickly turn off the pump.

    Shit!
    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_11-43-21_49.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_11-43-21_49.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

I turn on the pump again and try to find out where its coming from.

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_11-44-53_184.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_11-44-53_184.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

The damn vent hose. Just like xpdishun said it would. But since i knew where it was coming from i wanted to see how much would really come out....

    Well the answer is ALOT!
    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_11-45-23_201.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_11-45-23_201.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

But there was a ton of gas making it into the tank.
    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_11-45-03_955.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_11-45-03_955.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

So my new plan is to put a fuel petcock on the vent line, so ill just close it off when im pumping the fuel and leave it open when im riding.

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_11-46-57_517.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_11-46-57_517.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

And the finished product. It came out better than i could have hoped!

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_13-41-14_383.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_13-41-14_383.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

Now that i have the tank fully installed, time to size up the Altrider crash bars.

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_13-46-27_282.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_13-46-27_282.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

Only like 3" away from fitting. Im going to bend them out 3" on each side and see where it is. I have high hopes.

    <a href="http://s1262.beta.photobucket.com/user/Case_Frick/media/2013-01-09_13-46-54_465.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="https://www.advrider.com/advrider-photobucket-images/images/C/Case_Frick_2013-01-09_13-46-54_465.jpg" border="0" alt="Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App"/></a>

There is plenty of clearance for the crossbar support.
