Looks like he narrowly escaped the heavy hand of Darwin..... much to the detriment of future generations.

Cool video and a nice job on the way they muffled the music as the guy was under water.

I have always heard you should not try to cross floodwaters. Now I see why.

I won't judge. Being a 17 year old that probably has more balls than brains, I(or someone else here for that matter) may have tried the same thing. But still, poor decision making process none the less.

I'm just glad there were no GoPros around when I was young and indestructible. "Watch this idiot" would have been a good title for most of it.

Nice one. A pitty for the bike.
Wouldn't have feared for my life if I was him.

Fear for my poor bike in fact. Well, better call it sadness, since fear doesn't help a bit. Stay calm, stay clear, do your best to get out. At least it looked as he was doing quite well.

That's why so many people drown crossing something like that when they shouldn't. They're too stupid to be afraid. :lol3

So you're saying GoPro made him do it? I didn't hear the obligatory "hold my beer and watch this". :lol3

The thing about flood waters is whats under the surface of the muddy water you can't see that you can wash up against, get snagged on and held, possibly underwater, and drown. Water current is a lot stronger than most people think and can easily hold a person against an object.
If there had been some debris against those trees he was washing around he may have very well been snagged(or pushed against) and held there like spaghetti in a colander. If the bike had gotten pinned on a something he could have been pinned against it and drown. The term is "strainer".
The term for someone trying to cross flooded roads is "ignorant".

Oh yeah, there was a thread regarding this video about three months back.

He could have avoided that by just dedicating 5 more minutes of thought before crossing that messÂ… wait, never mind.
