I have a black crf230f fender on my xr. It bolted on just fine and the cut out on the top was pretty similar to the xr's fender. I ended up putting a couple of washers under the front to bolts to angle the fender down a little bit, but that's the only mod I had to make.

Yes, that's an anomaly I've yet to experience! If one side flashes, the other should certainly also, given the loads are similar and in-spec. Could it be the non-flashing side has lower wattage bulb(s)? I'd try checking the current draw on each side, and comparing, with the flasher bypassed of course. A voltage measurement on the bulb's ground side will divulge whether the ground connection is solid or not. (Should be at or very near ground potential, within a fraction of a volt).

XRL Owners, you're in luck. I've come over all Christmasy.
A free dvd of our epic 2003 XRL ride in the Sahara (as seen on NG Channel) to the first person to PM me with an address. It's gone.

Tanks came from the dungeons at Acerbis Castle. The very last we were told.
Originally made for Paris-Dak XR600s but we made them fit with hot spoons or other tricks.

Next time I'd carry a couple of Rotopax or similar on each side of the engine and have a normal sized tank up top. Lower CoG

It was the case of a faulty bulb. Odd because the filaments were intact but upon closer inspection the base and arms that hold the filaments are totally charred. I wish i could get a pic of this. Its kinda cool looking.:eek1

I purchased some LED indicators and they won't flash(I expected that). Question is What flasher relay do I buy? According to amazon the "LED flasher relays" state that I have to buy 1 relay for each turn signal? I'm confused.

I'm going to check out this XR650L this coming weekend. Owner says it's a 2007 with 11k miles, smog pump removed, DG slip on, bar risers and new front brake pads. He's asking $2,500 obo. Anything in particular I should look out for? The bike looks pretty clean for the mileage. There's another one listed locally for $3,400 that's all stock, 4k miles, and pretty much mint condition.

    Pics of 11k mile, $2,500:

Looks good. I paid $3,100 for 2500 miles on an '06 a couple years ago. Yours look like a good deal. Check front sprocket spline (bring 5mm allen to pull front cover). Next, looks well cared, but valve trains subject to strain if ran low on oil or hard on freeway.

Now that the sleepers have lost out where do we pay for one? Great stuff. I can dream...someday.

I drank the XRR front sprocket kool-aid as my 14T from the 600R was worn out anyways. I installed a Moose racing 14. The teeth are wider than my previous sprocket and to my surprise after installation there is 0 misalignment. Shifting between 1 and 2 gear is much, much smoother. The sprocket has 0 play, the only play is the one from the shaft itself which is minimal anyways. I packed it with Moly and ran 2" of slack in the chain. Time will tell but I cannot foresee any issues at this point. My splines looked great by the way.

Thanks for your input. Guy says oil was changed regularly with GN4. Valves and compression just checked last spring along with a new battery. I'll add a set of allens to my tool bag to carry along. Thanks, again!
