Edit: it's not what you think when you read the thread title - see 3rd post below!

Well, I thought I'd seen everything that came out of Japan since the early 70's. My knowledge fades beyond that. But, this one surprised me. I've seen a 650 styled like this, those were shaft drive from memory, from about the same year, but have never seen this. Anyone know about these old beasts?

I always thought that all the Katanas of that period had the shark-nose fairing design. The GS1100 had a wonderful engine

Well, this is a totally weird bike. I've dug around searching on the internet and haven't come up with even one picture or description of this bike. Sounds like he is claiming it's a Japanese market model, that somehow a few dealers their hands on a handful for this country. I also noticed the word "replica" in his ad just above the pics, not sure what that means... :huh

It looks like he took the GS650 Katana body work and put it on a GS1100.

i thought the same thing. some smaller displacement katana body work fitted to a gs1100. the front fairing and rear fender look aftermarket, suzuki never painted the rotor hubs red. wonder if it was a dealer built bike?

That is a GSX1100ESD from memory. They weere brought into NZ in 1984. They were a bit of a leftovers bits bike. Did not sell many. NZ was always the first in the world to get models back then cause the way the new season fell.

It ant that collectable in my book
