LS2 Helmets might be the biggest brand you've never heard of. We started in Spain in 2007 and in the last 6 years have become one of the top brands in Europe, selling over 1 million LS2 branded helmets per year, world wide. We are owned by a factory north of Hong Kong. Because of this, we're able to offer more bang for the buck, offering the best products for the price and the best price for the product. LS2 Helmets are now available in the U.S. We have a full line of helmets for road, off-road, cruiser and snow. In this thread, we'll concentrate on models that are suited to the adventure rider, though we believe that every ride should be an adventure.

In 2013, Cyril Despres won his 5th Dakar Rally wearing an LS2 MX456, and we had over 80 riders between the motorcycle and quad divisions. In 2014, we have nearly 100 riders participating in the Dakar, including Cyril. You can imagine, if the product didn't perform, we'd have a mutiny on our hands.

You can find a local LS2 dealer by visiting our website: http://ls2helmets.us

The LS2 MX 456 is the helmet Cyril Despres used to win the 2013 Dakar Rally. The LS2 engineers and technicians developed an ultra-lightweight, tricomposite fiberglass shell. The MX456 weighs only 3.15 pound (in a medium size). You’ll be stunned the first time you hold it in your hand, and you’ll forget you have it on when you go riding.

There’s a built-in air pump fit system that fills the cheek pads with air, so you can get a perfect fit with the just a few pumps. Full flow-through ventilation and a wicking, technical fabric liner keeps you cooler and drier. The liner is fully washable and removable so you can keep it fresh. The MX456 was proven at Dakar. Whether desert, trail, or enduro, this is a serious piece of equipment for the serious off-road rider.
    Key Features

    • This is the helmet that won the Dakar Rally in 2013.
    • Tricomposite Fiberglass Shell.
    • Built in air pump cheek pad fit system.
    • Large intake and exhaust ports for true flow-through ventilation.
    • Technical fabric liner wicks moisture to keep you dry and cool.
    • Suggested price $199.95.
    • Available in Flag, Launch Black, Launch Blue, Launch Red, Launch Pink and Matte Black. Visit http://ls2helmets.us/_live/.

I have the hi viz LS2 modular helmet and find it to be the most comfortable helmet in my collection of helmets ranging from Schuberth C3 to Nolan. It's the only helmet I can wear for hours without pressure points or discomfort.

The LS2 FF386 modular full-face motorcycle helmet offers features you’d expect to find on helmets costing twice as much. The full-metal latch system operates smoothly and offers a super secure closure for safety. It opens with a single button that’s easy to find and easy to use, even with a heavy winter glove. The chin bar has a secure detent when fully opened, so it won’t flop down over your eyes when you don’t want it to. If you open the chin bar while the shield is up, they’ll marry and come down together in one smooth action.

The FF386 has LS2’s Twin Shield System with a built-in Full Eclipse Drop Down Sunscreen that is easy to open and close, so you can get the sun protection you want, and get more light quickly when entering a tunnel. Replacement lenses are available in dark smoke, light smoke and HiViz. The Fog Fighter Face Shield is optically correct, scratch resistant and has LS2’s Radial Tool-less Quick Release making it easy to change whenever you need. This is a motorcycle helmet built for motorcycle riders, whether you’re touring the Alaskan Highway, or commuting to work. 3D Laser Cut foam in the cheek pads make for a secure and comfortable fit, and a quick release strap makes it easy to get on and off. The HTPP composite shell is aerodynamic and has fully adjustable ventilation.
The LS2 FF386 is so comfortable, you’ll forget you have it on. DOT/ECE approved. The LS2 FF386 Modular has a 5-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
    Key Features

    • Lightweight, aerodynamic, HTPP composite helmet shell cuts through the wind keeping the rider comfortable and resulting in less fatigue.
    • Fully adjustable flow-through ventilation to keep you cool in the heat but allow you to block the breeze when it’s cold.
    • The Radial Tool-less Quick Release equipped face shield is optically correct and the helmet has a wide eye port for great visibility.
    • Liner is fully removable and washable, bacteria and odor resistant so you can keep it as fresh as new.
    • Quick release strap for easy on and off.
    • $199.95

Within a day or two of purchasing my Speed & Strength SS2500 DS helmet I found out it's made by LS2. It appears to be a rebranded LS2 MX453. It's very comfy and the bill (beak/visor, whatever it's called) has plenty of ventilation so it doesn't catch the wind much at all at 65-70mph. Had I known they were the same helmet I would've purchased an LS2 because I like their graphics better. Next time. I have more of an oval shaped head, this one does not pressure my forehead at all.

With the biggest rally team in the world, LS2 has learned a few things about building helmets that perform. The LS2 MX453 is an adventure helmet for riders who ride. The shell is a lightweight fiberglass construction. It's DOT and ECE approved. The large eye port accommodates most goggles, even with the shield closed. The peak has large ports to allow air flow and prevent lift when you're traveling at higher speeds, and the fully adjustable flow-through ventilation allows the rider more control over the elements. Cheek pads are cut from one solid block of high quality foam using LS2’s 3D Laser Technology for a secure and precise fit, and the technical fabric liner is removable, washable and resists odor and bacteria.

LS2 Helmets believes every ride should be an adventure and the MX453 can help make the adventure more fun, no matter how brutal the ride.

    Hi Sean O,

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience. What model(s) do you have? When did you get them?

I've been with the company for over a year. When I arrived, they had just finished a major push to improve quality control and the products I've seen, used and sold are really good. I have a group of friends who are pretty hard core riders. Since I started, I've asked them to test different products that we offer, and the feedback has been really positive.

Have a look at GB's article regarding our FF386 modular:

    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=21609982#post21609982

I've been in the U.S. motorcycle business for 38 years and specializing in helmets for over 12. Sincerely, our current U.S. products compare well to HJC, Scorpion, similar priced Bell products, etc. In most cases, we offer more helmet for the money.

I appreciate any feedback. We can't fix it if we aren't aware of it.

    Thanks,
    Phil Ammendolia

    Hi BlackBeast,

Not sure why that link didn't work. It went straight to the page for me. You can go to www.kimpex.com and look in the upper right corner. The "find a dealer" link is there as well.

Let me know if you aren't able to find a local dealer and I'll call Kimpex for you and see if I can help.

I was happy to see an LS2 display at the International Motorcycle Show in Phoenix last week. I have to replace my current lid and the MX453 looks like the ticket. I was impressed with plushness and finish for a reasonable price point.

I'm pretty happy with my 386 that I bought last summer to replace my Nolan N103. My only real complaints are it is loud behind my bikes with a windshield but not bad on the naked one's, the shield fogs up really easily as soon as it gets cool and the fact you can't just crack the shield, which really bugs me, doesn't help. All and all a lot of Helmet for the money.
I haven't been able to find the pin insert to help with the fogging so I bought a In Vision insert instead.

Is there a sizing chart for the MX456 anywhere? I looked on the website and couldn't find one. Is there really a 5XL in the Matte Black? I'd love to see a Solid White, personally.

I love my MX456 helmet and my air pump cheek pads street helmet...dunno the model. The MX helmet is pretty light, I like my Arai better, but this one was a fraction of the cost and stands up against it pretty stinkin' well!! Works great with my goggles....taking it off is a bit different as it catches my earlobes because of the share of the base. So I take it off slower with greater care and it's all good. It's a great warm weather helmet...good venting.
