Another privateer comes out of hiding. Kevin will be riding a Honda 450 with a prototype Rally Moto Kit setup. Assistance provided by RMS. Dave
Dave, I will be testing the 450X RMK it this years Baja 1000 for Chris. I think it should work Great!!
"Like the good woman behind every man, there is one amazing crew alongside every rider," This is great news Dave! Looking forward to seeing you in the bivouac! Ingo Waldschmidt from Namibia is coming back to complete his second Dakar as well.
I for one would love it if Charlie had a go at it again! "Race To Dakar" is the go to doco for alot of people when the next Dakar is coming up
Darryl Curtis & Riaan Van Niekerk <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UNKnmXuLs1E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Thanks for the link Dread! I think Darryl has the potential to get a top 10 this coming year. I'm certainly going to be cheering him on!
Today´s announcement: Franz Verhoeven to be part of the Yamaha Team Europe for 2013 & 2014. it was funny that Franz himself in twitter announced he was going to make an announcement today, and someone ask him if it was going to be in a Sherco. His answer: "For sure NOT. Today we announce our plans"
Tweet from Don Hattan says he is teaming up with Simon Pavey and his son and they will be riding Husqvarnas
That was me that asked him. Up until very recently, and even currently depending on the translation, Croco Adventures has on their site that Frans is part of their 2013 squad.
David Reeve, the first entrant from Zambia. Currently the south African boys and him are training this weekend in Namibia. His Facebook Page
I thought Simon Pavey's son, Llewelyn, had been accepted to race the 2013 Dakar, but Story on Llewelyn riding the Taklimakin Rally here edit: I noticed that the winner of the Taklimakan Rally gets to race the Dakar, though the article I saw didn't specify whether it was the 2013 or 2014 edition. I suppose that a handful of those initially turned down might yet be offered a spot as they become available (as with those in Jenny's situation deciding to not race, or as a rider is lost to tragedy, like with Kemal). So maybe Llewelyn will yet ride the 2013 Dakar.
I tend to think the same. Moreover with Euro crisis still on, some may not find the enought budget, and probable not get to Le Havre, the point is, would it be enought time to let others in?
Some great info from Manuel http://www.ladakar.com/2012/09/12/tutorial-how-can-i-participate-to-dakar/ The other route I suspect is to be selected to ride for or with one of the established teams, as they must have a "block booking" which therefore actually reduces the number of available entries - by 50 I would say, I.e. the elite riders - so not the easiest of second routes in
Guys in he US - any news on Johnny Campbell this year after his wild passenger ride last year, 4 wheels or 2, or not at all?
