Rode down. Don't own a trailer and the DR doesn't need one. Trying to make my butt accustomed to touring on that thing but my butt normally selects the Tiger for trips. That has to change. I've done the Seat Concepts conversion and that helps...somewhat. 4-7 hours and 200+ miles aren't a big deal but day after day trips of 300+ per day are what I'm worried about. There are so many trips where I've wanted the DR with me but was afraid to try. My question is always this: if I were to make the Alaska trip or Baja which bike would I want to take. The DR is always the one that I'd like to have along...if it were just a bit more comfortable.
I'll ride it to WV sometime soon, see how that goes and then just add another day each time I wander further. If I can get comfortable riding it to the Smokies then I'm good to go with it.
I met an inmate in Utah a few years ago on a DR350. He was from CT and left the same day I did on my Tiger. He was already parked at Canyonlands when I got there. Sure he was was much younger but damn, a 350 beat me to Utah? And he had an additional 150 miles or so to travel. That really made me rethink things.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed Bald Eagle. If you are ready to come down again, we are having a gathering in August. Check out the first page of the Bald Eagle Bastards thread for info.

Crazy Canadians thought it was Christmas yesterday. Came across this small festival in Brockville, Ontario yesterday.

Don't know how I've never seen this viaduct before, it's the nicest in the area I think. Pretty well hidden. The guy leading our ride today found it last week.

    Starucca Viaduct...

Great shots of the viaduct. Have to go check out that area.

I spent most of this AM riding along the ridges by Blue Mountain ski area. Gorgeous country and a great day for riding.

    Thanks for sharing, as always.

The weather has been outstanding here lately. The last week never got over the high 70's and the forecast is showing the next 10 days with highs under 80. I'll take that all year long.:clap

I did change layers a few times today which is very unusual in August.

The viaduct in todays post is off the beaten path. The one in Nicholson is right on Rt11 and better known...

I'm giving serious thought to moving down there. You gotta give me better incentive than that.:D I know it won't be as good as this area but I've seen some interesting back roads on other reports down in Florida. I'm heading down in October to have a look around. Kids moved there so that's the only reason I'm even considering that area.

I'm not sure exactly where the falls pic was but I think it was near Thompson, PA. The falls are on private property but the owner doesn't mind people going there. It's right along the rail trails somewhere. I was following someone who laid the tracks out so didn't know where I was half the time. The Starrucca Viaduct is near Lanesboro and can be seen on mapquest with satellite view.

Finally got met meet the BEB's and had a great time riding and partying this weekend. The trails are rocky as hell but apparently doable with the DR and limited dirt experience. I was thrilled getting through the one unplanned single track without dropping it.
The Bastards really know how to throw a party. Nicely done.:clap

Rocks are biggers than they appear in photos:eek1
