Hey Fellas, Me and a friend are planning a trip. We will have about 4 months on our hands and a budget of 13.000 US dollars each. We practically have the route set, but as you all know nothing is written in stone.....Considering time frame and budget...WHAT WOULD YOU DO? (Departure will be from London)
How much of the world around you have you already traveled? If i had that kind of time and money i would really like to forget about maps and planning and just ride to see wherever i would end each day, specially i would choose a part of the world i wouldnt know anything about. But thats just something i always wanted to do. Anyway good luck
That's what I'm thinking, pick a direction not a destination. Sounds like an awesome opportunity. Enjoy!
Thanks for the input guys! Well, maybe you are right....Pick a direction and not a destination. That would be awesome. A bit like like the new movie "One Week". It´s all about the journey, not the destination. We've done bits of Europe (Sweden, Germany, France, England, little of Spain, Andorra, Italy, Switzerland, Austria) but loads to discover yet.The US and Canada hasn´t really intrigued me before, but after some reading and some research I´m hooked....Amazing! I´m driving a 950 Adventure and my friend...well..he changes bikes like I change under wear. Our trip last summer..... Take care! Drive safe! D
Across the straights to Bilboa, south along the Pyrenees taking time to explore all the majesty until Barcelona. From there the Med until northern Italy. Once in Italy bear south through Tuscany etc, mainly avoiding cities until reaching Bari, more or less on Italy's Achilles heel. Ferry to Athens and then to Istanbul, spend time (weeks) in Turkey on the coast (I've never been there but plan to go) Then from Turkey overland to Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and maybe even still-wild Albania. Then the coast of Croatia north into Slovenia, check out the Bled area there. Ride east into Austria to the eastern edge of the Alps. Bear west over the Alps, criss-crossing them to see Austria, Switzerland, the Italian Dolomites and Northern Lakes region, and the French Alps. This should leave you near Grenoble. That's what I'd do.
For me it would be the new/old countries that made up Yugoslavia. Turkey. Iran. The Stans. Come back thru north Africa.
If it were me I'd follow a similar route to this trip: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, China. 5 Africa Twin, 1 KTM and 4 4x4. Many pics Hope you have a great experience wherever you go.
