Home alone for the evening so I thought I would take the scooter to the coast, nothing like a good honest burn WOT along the pacific coast highway right plus it was going to turn 1000 miles since I got it not too long ago, and why waste that clock cycle on a commute!

The beastie of choice this evening.

Coast getting nearer! Not quiet the weather I wanted but the cool air felt good. Vents open!

This was the part I was concerned about, super fast uphill sweepers and a tiny 125 scooter, luckily not much traffic and they all just woodshed by me.

My 50cc Zuma only gets out about twice a year. I need to use it more 'cause it is more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I keep forgetting.

I almost went by your house just for laughs and take pictures of me trying to get in.

small displacement motors are a blast. It is a whole new way of thinking of riding. Momentum and carrying speed since you can't just yank the throttle.

I'm looking into a small bike route to Hwy1 from Eureka CA. So far it looks like I might have to ride Hwy 101 part of the way out of Eureka.

you do indeed, I found that for planning I was looking at as a just in case i can make it thing was from caltrans

When no alternative route is available freeway access is fine for bicycles and presumably smaller cc motor driven scooters etc.

If you're ever near Coos Bay-North Bend we've got a campspot.

I've been checking out Google Maps, which shows a couple of alternative routes parallel to 101. From Fortuna there's Matiola Rd which ends west of Legget and you can pick up, from the park there, I think it's called "Ulsa" road which makes it all of the way to connect with Hwy 1. They're both pretty curvy which makes me think they're also going to be quite hilly.

in west there is a better description somewhere of the state of those roads, one is dirt and if wet is pretty impassable. plus once you get out there gas might be a concern?

You should post up a thread in West, there should be some cool info there for sure.

Yes the BMW bag is pretty darm cool, on the GS it is a perfect weekend bag, leave off the jesse's etc. It works well on the beastie too. I didn't really need the space with plenty under the seat but this was a try out for the bag and the scoot before planning a few mini camping get aways using the raw 125 power plant...

You mounted a fucking GPS to a scooter . With a rubber-band no less. I'n not sure where this goes. Below or above 'KLR' class bikes

it actually has a bike mount on it, but I keep the rubber band on just in case, the shocks can be likened to a steel rod attached concrete block
