more like a flood, but yesterday as I was riding to work I heard a little bang and looked down, but couldnt see anything. About a kilometre later, feeling not quite right, I stopped at a set of lights and looked down to see that I had turned into a smoke machine. Rode home gingerly and on inspection found that my rear shock(F800) had sprung a major leak.

Just seeking advice on what to do now. Is it worth having the shock re-furbished/repaired or should I just get a replacement ?

    Cheers, Ivan.

What year? Because that sounds like the perfect excuse for an "upgrade"

My rear shock on my 09 F800GS started leaking on my trip in Alaska. By the time I got home it was leaking bad. The swing arm was wet and it felt like a spring in the rear. Mine lasted about 34k miles. Luckly I was still under warranty and the dealer replaced it for free.

It's from 2008. Not exactly sure # of k's, but not a lot. Hmmm, just maybe it's worth looking for a new Wilber's or Elka or....early Christmas present!

Mine wasn't a slow leak, I literally had both swing arms dripping, rear tyre covered and the bike did not like bumps. Something went bad very quickly.

Is it an F800 or the F650?

I have the standard F800 shock here with about 20,000kms on it. I wont ever be putting it back on.

I reckon a small donation would seal the deal. Let me know if you're interested.
