You can't drive to Yelapa?

Yes just for the day, in the late 90's I think. The wifey and I on vacation, no bike. Have you ever been to Quimixto? It is just before Yelapa by boat.They have a great horseback ride up to a waterfall complete with a small bar.

Yelapa has to be one of the coolest places ever to exist on earth!

add to that I google earthed an incredible amount prior to get a lay of the land.
I knew the road from this ( http://www.palapainyelapa.com/pages/road.html ) was there after asking anyone and everyone...the big sign was just a huge bonus I never expected

here's a view of the drop amount from the water level. nothing can explain how steep the "road" really is.
down in is on the backseat as far as humanly possible and all the braking your body can muster. we needed to stop every 10 minutes because of the front brake hand pump. it's impossible w/ any moisture in the dirt what so ever!

nope. same steep as hell road. if I stopped in most places to take a pic I would have fallen all the way down to Yelapa

until that amazing overlook it really wasn't that steep and then cliff time. it was all new to me.

the real nice thing is that ride to the overlook is possible by most anyone for future ref.

Uncanny timing too. I thought of you today when I descended about 2,000' in around 15 minutes. Nothing but switchbacks. The brakes got a good workout. That was on the Serra do Mar, just outside Ubatuba Brazil.

God, I miss Yelapa. Spent a lot of time there; always came in by boat though. I hope that road never gets improved. I was bummed when the town got electricity; Good for the locals, but it changed the place, for sure.

Oh man this thread bring back OLD memories from staying on the south side of the river in Boca De Tomatlan where the police from PV have no jurisdiction and the nearest cops were in El Tuito. seeing the touring of the relics of the virgin of guadalupe in el tuito in church after spending all day at a chariada drinking modelos
we then hitchhiked and hiked into yelapa from el tuito.
great surf in el quimixto, and met 5 hot canadiens in sayulita

-click on file and GE opens
-on left side click on to Yelapa.kml and you'll see to Yelapa below.
-click on to Yelapa and straight down you got a play tour button
-click and watch the fly by.
